Position Summary
The Automation Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible to perform duties to install, maintain, modify, and repair a wide variety of automation projects, assembly devices, and other production equipment. Responsible for project management on new production equipment, robotic and automation projects, robotic programming, and PLC controls for new equipment developments. Work with builders, designers, engineers, and vendors to design, develop and install automated equipment to meet production improvements and our customer's needs.
Primary Responsibilities
* Following blueprints or engineering specifications for installation and repairs.
* Programming of automation equipment.
* Participate in Design Review meetings that require assemblies or automation discussion.
* Detecting errors/troubleshooting equipment based on its mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic qualities.
* Coordinating on-site installation by examining building and equipment layouts and anticipating difficulties and challenges.
* Work with manufacturing on continuous improvement projects.
* Provide training and technical support to maintenance staff.
* Comply with OSHA and other regulatory agencies in the design, repair, and installation of all automated equipment.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance functions per schedule.

Responsibilities
What you will do:
Conducts field observations of project sites during the pre-, active- and post-construction phases
Performs construction administration and construction services
Assists the engineering team in bid evaluation, plan distribution, pre‑construction meetings, shop drawing review, job progress meetings, pay request review, change orders, site observations, punch lists, and other matters of construction administration
Works on all levels of production with an emphasis on field work and data reduction/delivery and drafting
Performs calculations as related to assigned tasks
Develops entry level knowledge of pertinent codes and specifications and their applications
Collects necessary topographic and/or survey related field data for infrastructure and building projects
Performs entry level construction layout staking services and/or survey layout services
Performs drafting assignments as directed, utilizing MSA's computer aided design software or manual skills to translate concepts, notes, sketches, or verbal instructions into engineering drawings

This role ensures that all ingredients, in-process samples, and finished goods meet established product specifications and regulatory standards. You will play a key role in maintaining quality programs, implementing new testing procedures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
In this exciting role you will be responsible for:
Analytical Lab
* Analyze and approve incoming ingredients, in-process samples, and finished goods using established test procedures.
* Implement new testing procedures and integrate them into daily operations.
* Coordinate inline quality checks with Production Supervisors and the Production Manager.
* Contribute to quality programs, including training personnel.
* Initiate purchase requests for QC supplies and submit for approval.
* Actively pursue cost reduction strategies for testing and supplies.
* Conduct physical inventory of hold and rework items.
* Maintain up-to-date product, raw material, and manufacturing SOPs.
* Coordinate plant water testing, environmental sampling, and sanitation inspections; report results to the Quality Control Manager.
* Update and write procedures based on customer specifications.
* Review test results and recommend acceptance or rejection of materials and finished goods; report deviations to the Quality Control Manager.
* Issue Certificates of Analysis for finished products.
* Perform equipment and environmental audits as required.
* Complete required reports and documentation to support manufacturing operations.
Projects
* Facilitate maintenance and repair of QC testing equipment.
* Summarize and report on special projects; assist as assigned.
Safety
* Participate in Ohly Americas safety program, including safety meetings, GMP audits, and safety inspections.
* Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and the Food Safety Plan.
* Report food safety issues to authorized personnel.
You should have:
* Associate Degree in Science, Chemistry, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
* Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and GLPs.
* Proficient in PC applications.
* Strong mechanical aptitude.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
* Knowledge of fermentation, blending, spray drying, roller drying, and packaging preferred.
* Experience in regulatory compliance.
* Mechanical trade skills are a plus.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Perform technical procedures including calibration of controls devices (flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature probes, etc.); and demonstrate the ability to work with automation engineers to install, commission, and troubleshoot such devices.
Provide technical support to teammates and customers to assist in troubleshooting and servicing of technical devices and control systems.
