Akkodis is seeking a Medical Device ETL Quality Technician for a 13-month contract position with a client located in Bloomington, IN. The ETL Lab Quality Technician is responsible for the independent monitoring and inspections of studies being performed to ensure scientific validity and adherence to lab procedures. Additionally, the ETL Lab Quality Technician is to support, implement, and help maintain quality system documents within ETL.
Pay/Salary Range: $32.14 per hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Medical Device ETL Quality Technician job responsibilities include:
- Ensure scientific validity of testing during study performance.
- Perform inspections of studies at intervals adequate to assure the integrity of the study and associated documentation.
- Maintain written and properly signed records of inspections.
- Ensure the lab Master Schedule is properly maintained and current.
- Verify adherence to external standards, such as ISO, JIS, and ASTM.
- Verify all laboratory and testing policies are being followed.
- Responsible for reporting issues concerning testing, method adherence, and protocol interpretation
- Monitor review progress, delays, and completions of protocols and reports.
- Work with team leaders and other lab personnel to ensure proper communication of testing procedures and practices
- Work with regulatory to ensure reports meet requirements, including APAC needs.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to ETL personnel regarding quality needs.
- Support ETL quality system documents through regular maintenance, monitoring, and implementation
- Assist with ETL quality system update project work.
- Identify ways to expedite the inspection process without jeopardizing quality
- May perform testing as an operator according to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) as defined by CFR Title 21, part 58.
- Identify and communicate department issues to management.
- Lead small to medium scale projects with a high degree of independence.

What this job involves: The Instrumentation Technician oversees the daily operation of the campus systems, utilities, and process equipment. Utilizes the site BMS to ensure systems are operated within design parameters in the most energy efficient manner. The Instrumentation Technician manages outside BMS contract service providers, assists in controls troubleshooting and takes appropriate actions to protect equipment and personnel when systems are not functioning properly. What your day-to-day will look like:
Troubleshoot building and process automation from basic to advanced control.
Troubleshoot digital communications used in automation and control system.
Troubleshoot field and test instruments.
Install, troubleshoot, and repair campus systems, utility, and process equipment & instrumentation.
Fine tune loops to achieve better environmental control as well as to save energy.
Troubleshoot, repair, and verify operation of the SCADA remote monitoring and control system for campus systems, utility, and process equipment.
Work on Siemens Building Automation System - Installing physical devices / instruments, connecting them to field panels, building points and graphics, trending points, alarm management, field troubleshooting etc.
Interact with other departments to schedule activities around the production schedules of the cGMP Manufacturing and Process Development departments. Schedule self-performed work assigned at beginning of month and due by end of month.
Assist team members during startup of equipment to identify and correct problems that may arise during troubleshooting.
Evaluate control system performance and make recommendations to optimize process efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Knowledge and hands on experience with control and simulation techniques and strategies
Perform troubleshooting, PMs or Calibrations, and physical repair work along with team as needed by testing and calibrating electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and analytical instruments & equipment for conformance to established standards using engineering principles.
Examples include but not limited to: WFI, Clean Steam, HVAC, Compressed Gases, Waste Treatment, CIP, Autoclaves, Glassware Washers, vessels, Cold/Warm equipment & rooms, Control Systems, and Aseptic Filling systems.
Provide responsive customer support with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
Provide complete and accurate documentation.
Know how to read and interpret prints, schematic drawings, manuals, and specification documents; mark up and create red line drawings.
Maintain trained and certified status as required in cGMP, GLP, HR, and industry procedures as required.
Support internal, Client, and Regulatory Agency audits as required.
Work with shipping to send out equipment or standard for offsite vendor service and track status.
Contribute to the creation of maintenance and calibration procedures and update existing procedures to match best practices and lessons learned.
Identify and order spare or replacement parts for equipment utilizing inventory management system.
Recommend facility improvements to meet OSHA safety, ISPE, or FDA guidelines.
As required, review of system operations reports to ensure that systems are functioning properly and not wasting energy by running redundant equipment when not required.

Overhead work / working at heights required.
Must be able to work in a clean room manufacturing environment which includes gowning and respirator requirements.
Environmental conditions will vary based on the job being performed. Work may take place in either the calibration lab and/or in the plant depending upon the job requirements. Must be capable of working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Skilled and physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift, and carry heavy loads, and operate required equipment.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday with on-call rotation, overtime opportunities, and potential 24/7 support responsibilities when carrying the on-call phone.
Required Qualifications
5 - 10+ years of experience working with electrical or instrumentation/controls systems.
Knowledge of BMS platforms including, but not limited to, Siemens, DeltaV, Honeywell, and Allen Bradley.

This role involves assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities on various PCBs, general electrical and/or mechanical subassemblies in support of the product development lead by the hardware engineering group. Most of the work will be performed in an electronics laboratory setting. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the Manager of Hardware Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Read and understand electronic schematics, PCB layouts, and component bills-of-materials (BOMs) to identify location and orientation of components on printed circuit board assemblies
* Assemble, modify and/or repair printed circuit board assemblies to support engineering development activities
* Populate, depopulate, or replace various types of electronic components on printed circuit boards using through-hole and/or surface mount soldering techniques
* Carryout basic electrical troubleshooting on malfunctioning printed circuit board assemblies or product assemblies to identify issues
* Maintain inventory of tools and supplies to support development activities, such as soldering supplies and consumables, heat shrink, hook-up wire, common components, etc.
* Organize and maintain order in the electronics lab and personal workspaces
* Coordinate the calibration of test equipment and maintain calibration records
* Perform or assist in performing electrical tests on devices, PCB assemblies or components
* Observe and log measurements during tests and provide data to engineering
* Assist in setup and teardown of equipment for large scale or system level tests
* Build-up product assemblies for development, testing, and occasionally very low volume production
* May occasionally assist in manufacturing or repairs departments during high demand periods to reduce the production time or turn-around times.
Qualifications & Competencies
* The successful candidate should have a minimum of a:
* High School Degree or GED equivalent
* 3+ years of soldering experience
* 2-year experience in assembly/rework/repair of electronic equipment either professionally or as a hobby
* Must have excellent soldering skills (both through-hole and surface mount technology)
* Must have good working knowledge of basic analog and digital circuits and techniques
* Must have basic electrical test, measurement, and troubleshooting skills
* Experience using various types of lab test equipment including but not limited to DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
* Mechanical aptitude - hand tools, crimpers, microscopes
* Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, PCB layouts, and component BOMs
* Good communication skills
* Ability to manage time and keep up with multiple projects
* Must understand computers and Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions
* Most of the work will take place in a lab/testing/development area (lab benches, test equipment, etc.)
