Engineering Co-op Students will be working in 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor modeling to aid manufacturing engineering when making changes to machines, products, and given opportunities in design work. Development Co op position will work in the quality lab and perform tests on conveyor belts and their components in support of continuous improvement and R&D work. The position will report directly to the lab manager and take direction on priorities from this position. Work will primarily be in the lab environment but will require interaction with the CBG manufacturing facilities to obtain samples, MDRs, raw materials, and any other items that are necessary to perform the requested tests.
Experience working around lab and manufacturing equipment preferred but not required. Ability to learn the detailed operation of various pieces of test equipment a must. In addition, must be detailed oriented in order to perform the tests with knowledge and record the results with accuracy. Detailed training will be provided for the specific tests that are required to be performed.
There is a portion of the job that requires the manufacturing of samples to work in the various lab test equipment. The qualified person must be able to use knives and other tools safely while completing this work.
Efficiency and accuracy in running the various tests will be required to satisfactorily perform the job.
Completion of 2nd year of college/university courses by Summer semester working towards BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree.

Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
This internship is for Summer 2026.
The Process Engineer Intern at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for learning and subsequently implementing the Cornerstone Production System methodology on multiple production lines and throughout different systems and processes. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this role will be on-site in Marion, OH and will work closely with the operations team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Designs the ability to produce a quality product into the process.
Identify and analyze manufacturing problems to control and improve manufacturing.
Develops all necessary process and audit documentation (i.e. Visual Work Instructions, Standard Work Combination Table, Process Control Adherence Audit, etc.)
Assesses existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) Six Sigma, designed experiment techniques, capability studies, etc.
Designs and/or sources equipment for manufacturing processes; evaluates and recommends implementation of competitive technology.
Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with plant maintenance to ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained and updated consistent with short- and long-term goals and objectives.
Provides training, as required, to associates.
Leads, where applicable, or works in conjunction with Quality Assurance, to monitor and document quality standards.
Presents capstone project as directed at the conclusion of the internship program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum travel required.
