POSITION SPECIFICS
We are searching for an experienced Engineering Technologist to join the Multimodal Systems Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. The mission of the Department is to analyze, design, develop, and prototype sensor systems and networks for all DoD services, national intelligence, and other government agencies. The focus is on the development of systems that can support the warfighter in the near-term. Core mission areas include:
* Application of traditional systems and software engineering techniques for the design and development of complex sensor systems
* Application of modeling and simulation methodologies
* Approaches for Rapid Prototyping as a means of concept assessment, risk reduction, and accelerated capability fielding
* Utilization of agile development methods including DevSecOps for continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) software pipelines, and application to all facets of complex system development

As the EngineeringTechnician III, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:
Responsible for the setup and performance of equipment and instrumentation. Builds and/or adapts equipment for any given experimental series. Assembles fuel packages and needed instrumentation following schematics, wiring diagrams, using measuring instruments, and operational instructions. Communicate with researchers to understand project requirements and discuss testing methods, equipment usage, and preliminary results.
Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment and systems used in research and field applications.

Scope
Under supervisory and/or management direction from the Product Service Department, the Electronic Technician will evaluate, troubleshoot and repair dental equipment products produced or sold by Dentsply Sirona. In addition, the Electronic Technician III will be certified to perform quality audits and inspections to ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are being consistently followed and all quality standards and regulatory requirements are being met.
General Responsibilities
* Estimate required repairs and prepare service quotes for products in order to meet current standards.
* Evaluate, troubleshoot and perform repairs that result in the product meeting current manufacturer requirements and standards.
* Complete all associated repair documentation, including repair service orders, unit and parts evaluations, etc. Complete all computer entry in compliance with established standards or procedures.
* Track labor costs and parts used in the repair process.
* Communicate relevant findings or potential future issues with components to Product Service Management, Quality Assurance and customers through documented descriptions entered into the notes section of repair database records.
* May be responsible for reviewing, documenting, logging, maintaining and/or initiating investigations for potentially serious complaints.
* Maintain workplace organization, standards and safe working environments in line with Company policies.
* Remain current on changes in policies, procedures and products.
* Assist with training new full time and/or temporary employees as needed in compliance with all safety, quality and production policies, rules and procedures.

Electronic Technician I:
* Develop thorough technical understanding of all dental equipment serviced in the repair center through continuous learning, apprenticeship and practical application of all knowledge, skills, and experience relative to electronic and electromechanical devices.
* Regularly participate in structured training programs and hands-on learning through application, subject to periodic examination and effectiveness testing.
Electronic Technician II:
* Routinely apply all acquired knowledge, skills and experience relative to electronic and electromechanical devices to service our customers.
* Assist as needed with training and development of other technicians or support staff for Cavitron and other electronic equipment.
* Proficient in troubleshooting and repair of various models/product lines - training matrix to be updated to track proficiency.
Electronic Technician III:
* Mentor and provide process and other training for new technicians.
* Proficient in troubleshooting and repair of current and past models and product lines - training matrix to be updated to track proficiency.
Typical Background Education:
* High school diploma or GED required.

Our Electronics Techs are responsible for performing repairs on various kinds of electromechanical components of industrial control assemblies.
The hours for this position are 7:00AM-3:30PM with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.
Responsibilities:
Read job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
Analyze various manufacturers' schematic diagrams.
Troubleshoot and test electronic components to board level, using various methods and testing equipment.
Repair and/or replace electronic components to board level, including but not limited to: diodes, transistors, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, other printed circuit components, etc.
Verify repairs using various start-up testing procedures.
Operate specialized equipment, including but not limited to: oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, high-voltage insulation testers, AC/DC volt-ohm-milliammeters, clamp-on ammeters, frequency generators, signal generators, capacitance meters, various test panels, soldering equipment, infrared scanning equipment, various kinds of handheld power and nonpower tools, etc.
Complete required forms on computer system for each job accurately.

Position summary:
The Product Development Electrical EngineeringTechnician supports various phases of projects. Primarily supporting the build and testing phase i.e. planning, assembly, and troubleshooting of first time builds and low volume production orders. As a member of the Product Development department the Electrical Technician will be engaged in work related to design, fabrication, and testing of ECUs and Chillers. Support prototype builds electrically by resolving design issues and ensuring accurate and complete documentation is available.
Support testing of components, sub-assemblies and prototype systems
Recommendation and continuous improvements to electrical test fixtures and procedures
Review of work instructions and procedures for proper control panel assembly wiring
PLC programming/trouble shooting (experience with Phoenix Contact hardware and PC WORX software a strong plus)
Design mounting and enclosure solutions to support electrical components in mechanically driven systems.
Assist in preparation of clear, thorough work instructions and build documentation to support prototype and production assembly teams.
Collaborate with purchasing, fabrication vendors, and internal teams to support custom component procurement.
Assist in develop 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks, with a focus on electrical panels and wiring
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), part numbers, and routings within our Epicor MRP system (training provided).
Review complex electrical schematic details
Utilization of information from vendor drawings, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.
Working with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and technicians
Adherence to ACT's Quality Manual, safety and corporate policies, standards of conduct, rules and procedures.
