SUMMARY:
Souder, Miller & Associates is recruiting a full-time CAD Tech I-II for the General Civil Technical Sector in the Albuquerque, NM office. We are seeking a dynamic drafter who can multitask between numerous projects while maintaining effective communication with the remainder of the team. The CAD Tech I-II will directly support and coordinate with the Project Manager and design team. Have the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, meet budgets, and be a team player. The candidate must be familiar with the application of principles, methods, and techniques of engineering technology. We are looking for someone who can complete a variety of tasks in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge of national CAD Standards. Must be able to proficiently operate AutoCAD Civil3D software.
Assists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
Able to process various forms of data provided such as xml files, point data, GIS data, shape files, Landdesktop, etc.
Create, utilize, and modify plans, profiles, alignments, sample lines, and section views.
Must understand the plan and profiles, able to provide detailed and accurate drawings.
Create, manage, and edit line type styles, text styles, label styles, point group styles, etc.
Create, manage, and edit design surfaces through the use of feature lines, corridors, 3-D Polylines, point data, etc., or a combination of these components.
Understand and be able to operate plans that utilize ctb files and stb files.
Create, manage, and edit sheet set managers for complex projects while coordinating with support staff.
Prepare medium to complex design computations and quantity estimates.
Perform design of portions of non-routine projects or entire routine projects under infrequent supervision.
Assist in the preparation of drawings, and exhibits for reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permits for projects.
Perform CAD drafting regularly to reduce designs to final drawings.
Understands civil terminology and other concepts related to civil engineering and construction practices.
Responsible for job-specific quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
Ability to work with a medium level of supervision.
Assist in the development of probable cost estimates for projects within the department.
Design review as well as some assistance preparing bids.
Implementation of regulatory standards and permitting requirements.
Train other staff members on CAD Standards, as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Grade: $24.00-$30.00 (Per hour)
Travel: up to 25%
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum High School Diploma is required, or an Associate degree in Drafting and design is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience preferred in related field.
Minimum 1 year experience required with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and have an acceptable motor vehicle record to drive a company vehicle.
This is not a remote position.

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Electronics Engineer with a diverse skill set to support the surveillance activities of electronic components, including capacitors, microcircuits, resistors, and diodes. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the testing of electronic components, analyze test data, and prepare annual component assessment reports (CAR). You will collaborate closely with the system surveillance team and engineers and technologists at 7640 to develop innovative methodologies and testing capabilities for electronic components. Additionally, you will engage with subject matter experts (SMEs) across Sandia and the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) for advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis of nuclear deterrence electronics. This position offers opportunities to deepen your understanding of legacy components while applying innovative thinking for advanced development.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Conduct electronics testing, provide SME expertise, perform materials or chemical analysis and optimization, structural analysis, thermal analysis, and project leadership, depending on your skills and interests.
Support a multidisciplinary team as we expand our surveillance responsibilities.
Co-develop, refine, and articulate a vision for the future needs of electronic surveillance to better support the nuclear deterrence mission.

Physical Demands: On-site inspection work requires almost continuous physical activity. Most of the on-site inspection time is spent walking, standing, crouching, and climbing. The PET may be required to hike into unusually rugged areas to inspect abandoned sites. PETs are subject to call 24 hours a day and may be required to work long nonstop tours-of-duty, occasionally in excess of thirty (30) hours. Some work is sedentary, although much of the job requires overnight field trips which involve physical activity on irregular terrains and work at physically demanding job sites.
Working Conditions: This position requires working primarily in field locations where it is necessary to wear appropriate safety equipment. Work environment involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, hostile flora and fauna, hazardous explosive fumes, poisonous gasses, toxic chemicals, high frequency noises, high-pressure and high temperature equipment, detonating devices, and moving machinery. Work involves climbing up and down ladders and steep stairways. A large part of the time is spent driving to work sites that are located in isolated areas. This work environment requires the use of hard hats, hard-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection equipment, poisonous gas detection equipment, and cold weather gear and/or a respirator may also be required. The PET must walk under and around heavy derrick and hoisting equipment and piping and around other potentially hazardous operating equipment.

**Responsibilities**
The successful candidate will be responsible to collect geotechnical instrumentation and field data in the WIPP underground, process that same data using computer and database systems, fabricate and install instrumentation, and assist engineers and technical professionals in data collection and processing. The candidate will support underground openings inspections, identification of potential ground condition hazards and mitigation of these hazards. Candidates must be able to walk on even and uneven surfaces; climb ladders, steps and inclines; qualify to work underground; accurately read dials and gauges; follow procedures; properly and accurately record readings; and be capable of operating computers and maintain computer databases. Candidate must be able to qualify to operate diesel and electrical lift equipment and able to lift up to 20 pounds and perform overhead work; such as drilling, survey laser alignments, alignment point installations, and instrument and cable installations. Applying technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer skills in support of operations and routine maintenance on EW & Radar systems and their peripheral equipment.
Setting up EW & Radar systems at remote locations, operating the systems in support of test missions, and tearing down the systems once testing is completed.
Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within their scope of work.
Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of military test events.

**Pay and Benefits:**
+ The salary range for this position is $ 116,000.00 - 155,000.00. We are seeking an Engineering Support Technologist to support development efforts related to Surface Mounting Technologies, Rapid Prototype Fabrication processes, Cable Fabrication, and Quality Assurance that provides design solutions to complex fabrication builds to be transferred into manufacturing processes and production agencies.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Develop engineering test scripts for the QC acceptability of electrical assemblies, address non-conformance, train to lessons learned and uphold departments quality plan, document work activities and work in a team environment
Perform assigned developmental fabrication techniques in the areas of Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) Printed Wiring Assemblies PWAs utilizing various tooling platforms like Pick-n-place, selective solder platforms, BGA systems and X-Ray CT
Perform assigned developmental fabrication techniques in the areas of Additive Manufacturing (AM) to include work order receipt and interpretation, customer interfacing, build set-up, general printer maintenance, and printer operations
Perform assigned developmental fabrication techniques for design for manufacturability turnover in complex harnessing and cabling efforts for unique Nuclear Deterrent as well as various Sandia Partnership programs

About Our Team
Electronic Fabrication Department, 07636, provides Sandia with manufacturing technology in packaging of Research and Developmental prototypes of electronic systems through capabilities that include product design, fabrication, inspection, testing and installation. The department supports Sandia's engineering by identifying and meeting customer requirements for the developmental design to application of customized products, through the use of effective and efficient processes to be transitioned to a manufacturing or production environment.

Job Requirements
Assemble racks, HV/LV harnesses, enclosures, panels, and motion/actuation subsystems.
Install pumps, valves, seals, gauges; leak-check and maintain oil and vacuum systems.
Mount sensors, route signal cabling, and bring up data acquisition system (DAS)-oscilloscopes, probes, DMMs, and troubleshoot connection issues.
Read schematics and harness drawings; crimp/terminate to specification; label, route and document work.
Run electrical checkouts, resolve system noise, troubleshoot high voltage (HV) systems, and restore electromechanical systems to operational status.
Preventive/corrective maintenance, spares, calibration, and readiness of tools and materials. Responsible for calibration of oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.- Execute HV/LOTO, ESD, rigging, and lift plans, proper use of PPE; maintain clear and concise safety records.
Capture build notes, monitor/maintain electromechanical systems, and feed improvements back to engineering.
Minimum Requirements
3-7+ years experience building and integrating complex electromechanical systems (emphasis in pulsed power).
Mastery of hand tools and metrology; expertise in electrical wiring and safety.
Experience working with high voltage/high current systems and precision timing of operations.
Ability to read mechanical design drawings and electrical/wiring diagrams and can provide improvement feedback to design teams.

at our White Sands Missile Range Base Camp in Orogrande, NM to support our unit rotations schedule. The frequency of the work is 9-10 times a year for about 1500 hours, many of which are overtime hours. Our Surge Technicians work 12 consecutive days during unit rotations and we support approximately 9-10 rotations a year at the Whites Sands Missile Range location.
As a surge technician, your duties include (but are not limited to):
Providing support of test events on military ranges which requires a knowledge of military protocol and standard operating procedures during FTX events.
Applying technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer skills in support of operations and routine maintenance on EW & Radar systems and their peripheral equipment.
Setting up EW & Radar systems at remote locations, operating the systems in support of test missions, and tearing down the systems once testing is completed.
Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within their scope of work.
Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of military test events.
The EngineeringTechnician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary as most work will be accomplished outdoors.
Must be able to work outside on the range throughout the year where temperatures and weather conditions will vary.
Physical requirements include: 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting, 10% crouching in tight spaces (inside unit vehicle), and you must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds independently or with assistance from others.
This is a part-time on-call position and shift hours vary with mission requirements.

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a skilled Electromechanical Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data acquisition and control systems. Your expertise will help ensure the reliability and efficiency of our operations, contributing to the overall success of our projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
* Provide designs, controls, and engineering support for data acquisition and control systems.
* Conduct testing and oversight of existing data acquisition and control systems.
* Maintain data acquisition and control systems software and hardware.
* Implement software data analytics routines into programs for non-technical operators.
* Assist with the implementation and commissioning of contractor-supplied software into current and future operations control and data acquisition systems.
* Troubleshoot problems and implement workable solutions as required.
Due to the nature of the role, this candidate must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
$72,800 - $140,600
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
* High school diploma or higher degree plus three (3) or more years of related experience
* Experience in operating and set up of oscilloscopes and soldering and/or standard electrical engineering measurement and test equipment such as power meters/sensors, and signal/waveform generators
* Able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
* Current Certified LabView developer (LCD) accreditation from National Instruments
* Electromagnetic Impulse troubleshooting skills, control circuit theory and design
* Experience with network analyzers and spectrum analyzers
* Demonstration of at least one LabView controls/data acquisition project (minimum of 100 vi s) from inception to completion to include final documentation.
* Demonstrated experience creating, storing and retrieving software from repository systems (i.e. GitHub or Sub-Version).
* Experimental RF systems experience (theory/troubleshooting/maintenance).
* Strong technical writing skills and the ability to prepare effective documentation.
* Ability to work on programs that require adherence to standards and requirements.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as personal initiative, responsiveness, attention to detail and organization skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Willingness to tackle problems in a highly collaborative environment.
* Ability to meet challenging design requirements and deliver results while meeting timelines within cost, schedule, and performance.
* Active DOE Q-Level security clearance.
About Our Team
The Above Ground Testing (AGT) Accelerator Operations (1332) department is responsible for the operation of the Saturn, HERMES III, and SPHINX pulsed power accelerators. The primary objective of the department is to provide an applied research environment for the study of radiation effects on materials and electronics. The three accelerators generate electrical pulses of up to 20 million Volts and up to 12 million Amperes with nanosecond duration in order to create extremely intense pulsed radiation environments for the study of radiation effects sciences.
Department 1332 also conducts pulsed power research and development to: improve radiation source fidelity, increase the output and fluence, as well as to improve the overall reliability and reproducibility of the accelerators. These unique, world class facilities are an essential part of the NNSA s Stockpile Stewardship Program.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

Position Information
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
