Responsibilities of Engineering Technician:
Running prototypes for customers in various industries.
Developing new surface treatment depending on customer s demand (surface preparation, coating, nitriding…)
Operating PVD coating machines, polishing equipment, production lines, and more
Trouble shooting problems on process and/or equipment.
Creating procedures and Keeping Work instruction up to date with the support of the quality/engineers
Troubleshoot process issues and help create a preventative action plan for future processes with the support of quality.
Train shop staff in operating process equipment
Detect faulty and/or insufficient operations.
Modify equipment as required to improve reliability and maintainability
Aid with PVD characterization in the quality lab
Requirements of Engineering Technician:
Degree in technical/scientific programs preferred
Detail oriented
Good relationship with people
Good organization skill.
Ability to follow written or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
Ability to read and write equipment information sheets
Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, and management.
Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures.

Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Maintenance Developer Technician ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Execution: Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis on HM&E equipment/systems. Each RCM project requires NAVSEA RCM Level 1 or Level 2 Certification prior to authoring shipboard PMS tasks within Navy's MIS 3.0 Enterprise Architecture [system].
* Project Execution: Create detailed Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs), and Equipment Maintenance Plans (EMPs) for HM&E equipment/systems. EMP/MIP/MRC effort includes specifying of all materials, tools, parts and test equipment (including calibrations) required to complete the assigned Navy planned maintenance task.
* Training and Development: Use advanced Excel database skills to document Measurement Uncertainty Analysis (MUA) calculations and manipulate CMRS data tables. Prepare CMRS reports by identifying ship-system calibration requirements including test measurement and diagnostic equipment. Identify calibration standards and equipment to assure traceability of measurements through Navy metrology and calibration programs. Coordinate submittal of related CMRS deliverables, including updates resulting from engineering changes.
* Team Collaboration and Communication: Review vendor and government recommended in-shipyard Protection and Preventive Maintenance (P&PM) for shipboard equipment. Provide support to BIW trades, QA, buyers, production, engineering, logistics, SOSB, etc. to ensure compliance with Ship Spec 081 (PM Program requirements) for both contractor and government-furnished equipment.
* Team Collaboration and Communication: Provide maintenance technical expertise and coordination support to internal BIW customers (Functional or Reliability Engineers, Buyers, QA, Logistics, Trades, etc.) as well as support to external Navy customers (SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, NSLC, Ship Program Office/PMO, ISEA, NSWC, etc.)

Summary / Objective:
This team provides support in the areas of Administration, Program Management, Engineering, and Logistics Programs associated with life cycle maintenance, modernization, and modification of Naval ships, unique platforms, new construction units and support facilities for Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement (SUBMEPP), an independent field activity of the Naval Sea Systems (NAVSEA) Command that is aligned under Program Executive Office Attack Submarines (PEO SSN).
SUBMEPP's mission is to keep assigned Naval ships and submersibles safe, reliable, and affordable through use of its engineered life cycle maintenance and modernization products and services. SUBMEPP performs technical duties and responsibilities to provide and maintain engineered life cycle maintenance products in direct support of the Fleet, shipyards, industrial facilities, and NAVSEA.
General Duties or Experience:
Be able to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Required to have some practical knowledge of science or engineering. May require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science.
This position will assist with the review of Technical Work Documents (TWDs) from current CNO Availabilities to determine whether the maintenance accomplished satisfies the requirements of SUBMEPP Maintenance Standards/Requirements identified in each Availability Work Package (AWP).

Review, analyze, maintain, draft, validate changes to technical submarine maintenance documentation.

Collaborate with the customer and various organizations, offering in-depth research and data analysis to improve engineering documentation and provide informed technical feedback.

Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Accredited GED equivalent.
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for the relevant experience requirement.
Required years of professional experience as an Engineering Technician:
Engineering Technician III - 3 years
Preferred education and experience:
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering.
Familiarity with Maintenance Standards and submarine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems is a plus.
Current or recent shipyard submarine availability maintenance experience and be familiar with availability work packages and tracking metrics.
Experience as a PQS Worker, Work Center Supervisor, or 3M Coordinator within the Navy's maintenance system.
Familiarity with the Navy's Planned Maintenance System.
Familiarity with engineering documentation standards and quality assurance practices.
Adept at learning new systems and terminology
Competencies:
