POSITION SUMMARY
The Fire Teaching Assistant Instructor the mission and values of the college providing supportive instruction to any lead instructor and all students participating within the courses assigned. The Assistant Instructor will maintain knowledge of all current curriculum knowledge, license or certifications, and awareness of current successful teaching strategies for student success. The Fire Teaching Assistant will maintain communication with all necessary departments and instructors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Complies with College and lead instructor policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, providing grades on a timely basis.
* Complies with all aspects of Board policies and work rules.
* Maintains an effective line of communications with students, customer-based clientele, college community members, other full-time faculty, and adjunct faculty members.
* Evaluates student performance and provides regular feedback in courses taught.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
* Firefighter 1 Certified, Firefighter 2 Certified, Emergency Services Instructor 1 Certified
* Class B CDL Preferred
* 2 years with a Fire Department
* Maintain required certifications, licenses for teaching in respective curriculum.
* Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Districts standard insurance policy terms.
* Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, various online learning-based program navigation, PeopleSoft experience preferred
Other Requirements:
* Educational teaching strategies and motivational techniques for classroom instruction
* Ability to learn and use technology and alternative delivery methods, including but not limited to: online instruction and the use of distance education.
* Skill in oral and written communications.
* Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the curriculum.
* Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
* Ability to work non-standard hours including evening or weekend hours.

* Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desirable.

ABOUT US: Miami Valley Child Development Centers is southwest Ohio's Head Start Agency. For over 55 years, we've been providing FREE early learning and childcare to children from 6 weeks to age 5. BASIC FUNCTIONS: As a Preschool Assistant Teacher you are responsible for teaching infant and toddler children and play a key part in the growth and development and overall supervision of daily activities. You are helping the Lead Teacher in preparing infants and toddlers for kindergarten teaching them an innovative, engaging and theme-based curriculum that follows both a structured format and ability to build relationships. Salary Range: $12.50 per hour with pay increase after 20 continuous days in same assignment.
Work as needed to assist in our classrooms, on playgrounds and in our cafeterias.
Qualifications desired: The successful candidate shall possess the following skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must have skill in written and oral communication.
Must have proficiency in reading and math.

Applicants must submit their official transcripts from an accredited college or university. 2. An online assessment for paraprofessionals prescribed by the State Board of Education (ParaPro Assessment). Candidates must request their test scores be reported directly to the Ohio Department of Education from the Educational Testing Service. Upon successful passage of the test you will then be able to ADD the ESEA designation to your ODE license.
If you are in need of taking the ParaPro Assessment you will take the test in Mentor at the Mentor Schools Board of Education building AFTER being hired as a full time employee. A two hour block of time will be scheduled for you to come to the board office and take the online test.
The ESEA designation is a one time cost of $20.00 that will need to be added to your ODE Educational Aide permit. This is a condition of employment.

Job Description:

Qualifications
Qualifications:
