What is an enrollment advisor and how to become one

An enrollment advisor is responsible for providing information and answering questions about a school and its academic programs to prospective students. They help the students decide on which courses best suit them, solve issues raised by students, evaluate their abilities, advices them on career prospects of their chosen courses, and guide them through the admission process. Enrollment advisors also undertake administrative duties such as maintaining records, communicating with prospective students via email and phone and preparing reports for the administration.

An enrollment advisor usually works in educational institutions in the admission or registrar's office. They work closely with other enrollment advisors and the respective deans. To succeed in their role, they should have an in-depth knowledge of the school's programs and the admission process, communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and attention to detail.

Enrolment advisors typically work 40 hours a week Monday to Friday from 9 to 5. The job involves a bit of travel to colleges and high schools to attend recruitment drives.
