Mike is a learning scientist with a background in robotics, Artificial Intelligence, software engineering, organizational dynamics, and education. Formerly a Software Design Engineer at Microsoft, Lexia Learning Systems, and Sunburst Communications, he has also served as a faculty member at Harvard University, Dartmouth College, and the University of Texas. Mike co-founded and led education startup Native Brain, Inc. and has consulted for schools, non-profits, the federal government, and corporations across a range of industries.

Mike has written and taught extensively on learning, motivation, education, and interdisciplinary studies, including his recent book \'Using Formative Assessment to Improve Student Outcomes in Classrooms\' (CAST Professional Publishing, 2020), and has applied learning science and Artificial Intelligence to design several large-scale educational applications and technology platforms. Mike currently leads an organization that digitally transforms businesses in the chemistry / materials science, biosciences, and energy sectors.

Mike holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and a doctorate in Education from Harvard University.
