Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Varying levels of positions may include the following tasks:
Operating mechanized equipment safely, efficiently, and within specifications. Troubleshooting, inspecting, and fixing issues that arise with equipment as applicable. Identifying and recommending opportunities for improvement.
Monitoring the operation from the control room on computers, if applicable
Sampling and testing products
Preparing railcars and trucks; loading and unloading trucks, railcars and bags, as necessary
Packing, inspecting, and dumping bags, totes, sacks or drums
Filling tanks or transferring product as necessary
Performing tasks of varying physical demand such as moving hoses and cleaning equipment
Maintaining inventory
Handling movement of and working with chemicals as appropriate
Performing other duties as required
Continuous learning of other job duties and/or positions as required
We are looking for a person with operator level 1 or higher, with skills and experience in manufacturing and production.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Work Environment:
Ability to work in potentially loud and in strong odorous environments, different physical environments, or in various weather conditions
Must be able to move about in the processing areas and be able to do the following: lift and carry 50 pounds, stand and walk for sustained periods; climb stairs and ladders; bend; reach; push; pull, enter tanks, and wear harness
Position type and expected hours of work: Full time position, be willing to work any day of the week, an off shift and/or rotating shifts as applicable or assigned. Overtime may be required.
Required education and experience:
High school diploma or GED required
Must be able to complete pre-employment assessments as required All offers are contingent upon the review of education, work history and criminal record
Must be able to successfully pass a physical and drug screen as applicable by local government

Able to safely perform duties of the job as required

Entry Operator - B Crew

Job Responsibilities:

* Responsible for achieving assigned goals in the area of production, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
* Notifies others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities and begins to identify areas where laborers and operators can assist in resolving concerns.
* Responsible for complying with GMP's, SOP's, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
* Provides assistance and support to all areas in the production facility as assigned by supervisor/lead and begins to train and build competence on key areas in production such as fillers, forklifts, and production lines.
* Responsible for gaining competence on line circuits and learning proper hookups that are made in the facility.
* Covers breaks and lunches and other staffing needs as assigned by their supervisor/lead.
* Compliant with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety on their assigned shift and reports concerns to their supervisor/lead.
* Works in a safe manner and reports safety concerns promptly to their supervisor/lead and takes corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
* Responsible for reporting food safety problems and initiating action and for supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.
* Ensures work areas are sanitary and strictly adheres to sanitation practices
* Communicates effectively between shifts and other departments

Essential Knowledge, Skills:

* Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts such as adding, counting, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and knowledge of weights and measure, to sufficiently handle job tasks.
* Understand and respond appropriately to basic to complex employee, vendor, and customer inquiries.
* Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (Other preferences will be given for special language skills when there is a business need).
* Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and your role in achieving each of them.
* Ability to operate facility equipment as required in assigned area.
* Satisfactorily complete all company training requirements.
* Ability to interpret company documents and literature and UPC/code information.

Performance Standards:

* Responsible for reporting to work at scheduled times and communicating tardiness and absences with the assigned Supervisor/Manager prior to the occurrence.
* Responsible for reporting to work in a condition to work.
* Responsible for being well-groomed and dressed in a business-and position-appropriate attire at all times including ensuring compliance with GMP dress code standards.
* Comply with performance criteria, standards of conduct as contained in company policy, employment procedures and responsibilities as described in the company handbook.
* Maintain a safe work environment at all times and immediately report and take appropriate action to correct a safety concern.
* Responsible for completing all assigned tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Schedule:

* Requires morning, afternoon and overnight availability any day of the week based on assigned shift.
* Requests to be scheduled off for a specific day require advance notification and approval by Supervisor/Manager.
* Hourly: Generally scheduled for 40 hours; more hours may be required based on the needs of the business.

Environmental Concerns:

* Normally protected from weather and temperature changes possible exposure to hot cold wet, humid or windy weather conditions does exist.
* May be subject to exposure to ingredients used in the manufacture of food products including allergens
* May be subject to exposure to chemicals involved in the manufacture and sanitation of a food processing facility.

Physical Job Requirements:

* Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility including but not limited to office, production, and warehouse environments. Including the outside perimeter of the building.

We are looking for motivated Operators to join our team in our Amherst, NY location. Entry Operators are responsible for the productive & efficient operations of diversified equipment for the manufacture of product in an assigned department within production. The priority is to ensure the service and quality of products on the production floor, which covers a wide range of activities including manufacturing, inspection, and packaging.

Areas may include (but not limited to): wet mixing area & dryers, acid treat room, jet mill, continuous ball mill, kilns (nitride and stabilizing kilns), vacuum hot press, furnace room, roll crusher, coatings, and powder processing.

This position works 12 hour rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. Shifts and overtime are subject to change based upon business conditions.

Required Qualifications

* Basic computer skills required
* HS Diploma/Equivalent is required
* Good communication skills exhibiting ability to interact with co-workers, plant staff and management personnel
* Basic math, reading, writing, and mechanical skills
* Previous forklift truck certification preferred
* Previous experience in a manufacturing work environment is preferred
* Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 60 pounds (with or without accommodations)
* Ability to move throughout all areas of the plant floor, receiving, and outside perimeter of the facility including climbing stairs or working at heights
* Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions
* Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break
* Visual acuity correctly to perform job functions
