The specialist will also support Tanaq's environmental projects by maintaining adherence to these requirements. This role focuses on projects with federal contracts, requiring a strong understanding of relevant laws such as CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and NEPA, as well as specific agency requirements (e.g., EPA, USACE). Responsibilities include developing and implementing compliance plans, conducting site inspections, preparing reports, and interacting with regulatory agencies. This is a remote work role that can be based anywhere in the United States and requires an estimated 25-40% annual travel within the United States, depending on project requirements. **Responsibilities** + Prepare plans, permit applications, and reports for various environmental compliance areas, such as Clean Water Act (Sections 401, 402, 404), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)/Stormwater, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)/Oil Pollution Act, storage tank management programs, RCRA, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), solid waste, air quality, and wastewater programs. + Provide multi-media environmental support and assessment of facility operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, permits, and plans. This may involve on-site assistance and assessment as needed. + Identify potential compliance issues and offer recommendations for corrective actions in technical reports and through oral communication. + Deliver additional client support by providing training on various environmental compliance topics, in-person or online, as directed by the project manager. Conducts quarterly environmental inspections and audits of the various operations and facilities across the CAP network to evaluate the effectiveness of CAP's environmental compliance and sustainability efforts and third-party operations on CAP property. Monitor and investigate environmental compliance and interpret results of inspection activities to determine compliance with applicable provisions of federal, state, and local regulations. 2. Evaluate and coordinate the storage and handling of all waste (hazardous, special universal, and non-hazardous waste) at various locations. Review all waste profiles and documentation to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with all permits and regulations. Responsible for interpreting new permit requirements and plans, developing programs and standards, and coordinating with Environmental Program Specialists and other internal departments to ensure compliance with the permit. Assists in preparing permit applications, compliance reports, and emergency response planning procedures for review by the Environmental Supervisor. 4. Collects air, soil, water, and waste samples using EPA-approved analysis and sampeling methods to meet various environmental assessments and permitting requirements for AZPDES, APP, wells, potable water, and surface water. Maintains field logs and records of inspection and sampling activities. In this role, you will support site assessment and remediation projects, including soil and groundwater sampling, contaminated site investigations, vapor intrusion evaluations, data analysis, and report preparation. General responsibilities: Conduct field inspections, assessments, and environmental investigations. Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Perform air, soil, gas, and groundwater sampling, as well as remediation of contaminated properties. Assist in planning and executing field investigations, including logging borings, collecting samples, performing field tests, and recording data. Carry out routine and special calculations as needed. Provide field oversight of remediation activities and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with job specifications. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology. 1-2 years of relevant work experience. 40 Hours OSHA HAZWOPER certification is preferred. Prior professional work experience is preferred. Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and eagerness to learn. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment abilities. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license in good standing and reliable transportation for access to remote job site locations. Availability to work overtime as needed.
