Job Description

As a Health Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Intern, your key responsibilities will be to serve as administrative support to the Corporate HS&E team members under direct supervision.

Essential Job Functions

· Work closely with the Corporate HS&E Manager in program initiatives.

· Apply knowledge, skills, and dispositions in a variety of settings including both office and field assignments.

· Participate in HS&E compliance and training development and communication.

· Participate and conduct field audits and inspections as assigned.

· Participate in daily safety huddles with site personnel.

· Collect and analyze near miss data.

· Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.

· Develop safety messaging and communication materials.

· Reinforce and follow company and work site HS&E policies/ procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” (IIF) work environment.

Qualifications

· Successful candidates will have completed their sophomore year, but preferably junior year, in one of the following majors: Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences, Safety Management, Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences or related degree with a GPA of 2.95 or higher.

· Strong analytical and organizational skills.

· Ability to deal with complex situations and manage change effectively.

· Ability to communicate in a clear and open manner through verbal, written, and non-verbal methods, to various levels of the organization.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office.

· This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sit.
  • Ability to remain in seated stationary position for long periods of time
  • Ability to navigate around office to use equipment as needed
  • Light lifting (Up to 20 lbs.) as needed

Our Environmental Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard environmental techniques and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting with environmental site assessments, field studies, development of soil and groundwater sampling plans, data analysis, GIS analysis, site remediation, and preparation of environmental reports, permits, and assessments.

Projects include stormwater design and water and wastewater treatment design. Stormwater work includes stormwater management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater design, water resources, civil works and flood control, and ecosystem restoration. Water and Wastewater work includes the design of facilities for water and wastewater collection, distribution, and treatment.
* Collection and distribution systems design.
* Plant operations, startup and troubleshooting both for municipal and industrial clients.
* Stormwater design including stormwater management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater design, water resources, flood control, and ecosystem restoration.
* Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
* All other duties as assigned.

Hourly Range

$19.00-$31.50

The expected hourly range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.

* Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
