How you'll contribute
The Environmental Services Aide cleans and services building areas including patient rooms, common areas, floors, office areas etc. Moves furniture, trash, equipment and supplies and performs a variety of environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, safe and sanitary condition.
Qualifications and requirements
♦ High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
♦ Previous experience in hospital setting preferred.

Essential Functions:
♦ Clean patient rooms, restrooms, lounges, offices, corridors, walls and windows daily or as scheduled.
♦ Vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub and/or shine floors; replace paper and soap products in restrooms, clean mirrors, sinks and toilets, etc.
♦ Operate various types of equipment and machinery including vacuums and floor scrubbers.
♦ Collect and remove trash from building each day.
♦ Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with department policies and procedures.
♦ Report any malfunctions and maintenance problems. May perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs as needed.
♦ Responsible for stocking linens throughout the hospital.
♦ Assists with office or room moves if needed.
♦ Adheres to all infection control policies and procedures. Reports safety hazards to supervisor.

Summary
Position Highlights:
The Environmental Services Specialty Technician's primary responsibility is disinfecting
Specialty areas such as Infusion Pharmacy, Sterile Processing, Operating Rooms, Procedure Rooms, Cell Therapy. As part of the Spill Response Team, deactivates and decontaminates chemotherapy and other hazardous agent spills. Responsible for reducing the spread of bacteria and infection as well as providing an environment that appears clean, fresh, and polished. This position performs a variety of duties that support the department in maintaining a clean environment for patients and staff. This includes cleaning and disinfecting other areas as needed.
Responsibilities:
* Clean spills containing blood or other potentially infectious material using established infection control, safety, and ES departmental procedures.
* Occasionally may have to work at off-site locations.
* Follow departmental and other regulatory standards regarding all cleaning policies and procedures (using proper disinfectants, labeling chemical bottles, keeping an organized cart, etc.)
* Perform all essential functions following established safety and infection control requirements (perform hand hygiene, wear PPE, etc.)
* Safely uses, dilutes, and stores chemicals and cleaning materials.
* Complete working knowledge of different types of hazardous materials (chemotherapy, pharmaceutical, bio-hazardous, sharps, pathological, microbiological, and bodily fluids) and how to properly handle and dispose.
* Proper operation of cleaning equipment - Properly clean and disinfect all types of areas including clinical inpatient/outpatient (patient rooms, exam rooms, nurse stations, etc.), support/common areas, offices, labs, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, corridors, external grounds, etc.

* Minimum two (2) years of Healthcare Janitorial / Environmental Services experience, including 6 months applying proficient knowledge of a specialty area (for example, including terminal cleaners), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral/written form (for the safety of our patients and staff in an emergency situation).

Valid and unrestricted driver's license

Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on work environments
Working knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems
Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or a related field
Experience working with Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping and components
Experience using data logging systems
Mechanical aptitude or prior experience in mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting systems with pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment
Fundamental knowledge of computer data entry and interpretation
Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision
