Reporting to the Director of Quality , the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager will plan, administer, and supervise ongoing environmental, safety, and health programs in accordance with the OSHA, EPA requirements and applicable federal, state and local regulations as well as Materion's EHS systems, processes and programs.
You will have the Opportunity to:Ensure compliance of EHS policies to comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Formulate, document and maintain general safety, health and environmental policies.Overall environmental management responsibility for compliance with state and federal governing agencies including wastewater management.Lead investigations of all serious accidents and injuries making recommendations for corrective action to management.Maintain an on-going accident prevention program. Inspect and tour facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventative action.Support the ISO 14001 certification program.Develop budgets and manage activities to accomplish financial objectives. This will include continuous improvement measures that will increase overall productivity within the organization, while reducing costs.Oversee the management, handling, storage, and shipment of hazardous waste generated. Assure that all aspects of this management are in total compliance with all Federal, State and Local Laws.Coordinates and manages training for first responders, emergency situations, and waste handling per Department of Environmental Protection and Environmental Protection Agency. Deliver in person training to various staff members for effective learning and application Monitors air and groundwater emissions per Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in a relevant field Minimum of 6 years experience in designing/managing programs aimed at ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory EHS agencies Previous experience leading the EHS function at a site level Proven success partnering with management and various stakeholders when leading an EHS function Minimum of 6 years of experience working as a hands on EHS Manager in a manufacturing setting Ability and willingness to be hands on, spending time in manufacturing settings, working with various employees at all levels of the organization Knowledge of ISO 14001 programs in similar environment preferred Experience leading EHS change management, included developing process, training and sustaining continuous improvement efforts

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Leads plant Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) function and efforts to ensure operations minimize the impact upon the environment and provide a safe work environment capable of zero incidents. Responsible for leading and supporting the development and implementation of a facility wide EHS management system through technical support, program development, training and mentoring, and relationship building. Promotes and leads site culture evolution towards proactive EHS risk recognition and mitigation, consistent safe work behaviors and world-class results. Ensures attainment and maintenance of compliance with applicable EHS laws and regulations with necessary documentation demonstrating continued compliance. Plans, develops and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices. Promotes sustainability and good corporate stewardship by working with all departments to analyze current processes, consumption and waste generated by site operations, establish baselines, and recommend improvements. Analyzes losses to understand causal factors and develop corrective and preventive actions to address system, process and cultural gaps leading to incidents. Leads data analysis efforts to identify trends and opportunities to prevent future EHS losses and promote continuous improvement.

· Manages all aspects of environmental, health, safety and sustainable development programs· Directs environmental compliance and performance functions in accordance with government regulations, corporate compliance guidelines and applicable environmental requirements· Ensures timely submittal of all environmental reports· Promotes a zero incident work environment by developing systems, processes and programs that recognize and mitigate risk to prevent incidents · Plans and delivers programs to train and mentor managers and employees in workplace safety practices and safe behaviors· Assists in incident investigations and supports incident report preparation as required by company policy and regulatory agencies· Conducts inspections and audits in plant and at other facilities to detect existing hazard and risk and determine systemic corrective or preventative measures· Facilitates the Employee Safety/EHS committee team and process by active participation in the process and acting as a resource for such groups· Administers initial Workers Compensation claim submittal and functions· Guides and directs plant toward compliance with State, Federal and local Safety and Environmental regulations· Determine and direct necessary compliance training for all individuals to assure OSHA, TOSHA, EPA and ConAgra training requirements

Bachelor's degree from a four-year university in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Healthy or preferred Minimum of five years industrial safety experience and a CSP certification preferred Strong leadership capabilities necessary to drive and sustain zero incident culture Experience building and leading teams Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office applications) Excellent verbal and written communications skills Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations Ability to interpret State and Federal regulations and applicability to facility to ensure compliance Ability to write regulatory reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals Experience performing risk assessments and audits Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

JOB SUMMARY:
Plans and coordinates health and safety program requiring application of engineering principles and technology to analyze and control conditions control contributing to occupational hazards and diseases by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: – Other duties may be assigned:
• Essential Duties including supervisory responsibilities.
• Develops and implements programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards at the facility.
• Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, radiation, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health.
• Performs field and safety measurements, safety evaluations, and environmental impact evaluations.
• Develops or provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining material data sheets.
• Maintains monitoring instrumentation and equipment.
• Implements or recommends control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
• Directs workers engaged in field and laboratory verification of compliance with health regulations.
• Provides technical guidance to management and workers regarding health related problems and correct use of protective clothing or accessories.
• Monitors the company’s health standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Develops and implements a program and system to track and evaluate worker injuries.
• Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
• Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to environmental health and safety.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or related field.

• Manufacturing experience preferred.

• CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Managers), Or QEP (Qualified Environmental Professional) certification(s) preferred.
