SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Under direction, plans, develops, organizes, and implements the MCPS Asbestos Abatement Program, including management of contractor work, the development and implementation of training programs, and preparing reports, often of a technical nature. Assists in the development/revision of other health and safety programs, provides environmental health consultant services (i.e. diagnoses, evaluates, identifies, and controls physical, chemical, biological, and other occupational health hazard). Investigates compliance with environmental health regulations and implements best practices. Meets and coordinates with a variety of internal and external personnel. Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Performs other related work as assigned.

CERTIFICATE LICENSE:

Possession of a valid Maryland driver's license. Current AHERA Building Inspector, Management Planner, Project Designer and Supervisor certification required. 40-hr HAZWOPER and NIOSH 582 certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the basic principles of biology, chemistry, mathematics and other scientific disciplines applicable to recognizing, evaluating, preventing, controlling, and eliminating environmental health hazards. Working knowledge of the major technical standards, inspection techniques and analytical methods applicable to the investigation of environmental health hazards and the use of sampling and instrumentation/testing equipment. Thorough knowledge of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Ability to understand and interpret complex technical standards; identify, diagnose, and evaluate environmental health hazards; prepare detailed reports and analyses; and maintain effective environmental health practices and programs. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Skill in using state-of-the-art environmental testing equipment. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree required. College major in industrial hygiene, engineering, or a physical science. Professional level experience in industrial hygiene or environmental health; and extensive responsible experience in asbestos identification, inspection and abatement programs, including working with asbestos abatement contractors, reading blueprints, and managing and developing staff. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

The Envinronmental, Health & Safety Specialist provides leadership and guidance to the Ingredion teams. This position is responsible for assisting the EHS&S Manager in the development, implementation and management of the EHSS programs, policies and procedures for Ingredion that are in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and consistent with the Company's vision and values to identify, reduce and/or eliminate risks.
Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free, work environment by performing duties personally or through coaching of employees and leadership.Assist in the development of the company's EHSS programs, policies and procedures including: LOTO, Confined Space, JSA's, Emergency Action Plans, Observations, etc. Assists in the implementation and training of employees on all EHSS policies, procedures, regulations, accident protection, and prevention. Directly participates in the investigation and completed documentation of any safety or process event (root cause analysis (RCA)). Assist in documenting and tracking corrective actions/findings from the investigations and RCAs.Assist the EHS&S Manager in evaluating the organizations procedures, facilities, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions that need improvement.Will lead the Safety Committee and the Emergency Response Team at each Maryland Ingredion facility; Attends meetings with each committee to further drive safety initiatives and maintenance. Work Environment:
Ability to read and analyze blueprints and schematics. Ability to write reports, safety presentations, and procedure manuals and be able to present information and respond to questions from groups of employees within the organization as well as vendors.Significant mathematical skills are required, consistent with the educational requirement. Position type and expected hours of work:
Full-time, 40 hours working mainly daytime shift but may occasionally will need to cover early morning or evening hours, weekends and holidays as required by special operational needs.This facility operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Education and experience:

Job Description
The position of EHS Field Services Specialist will provide technical expertise, implementation of protocols and guidance for safety, occupational health, and environmental programs and services, including:
Evaluating and monitoring company practices to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations for both MSI employees and subcontractors working on MSI projects Working with Field Services Teams to understand risks and assist them with identifying solutions, including developing procedures, completing onsite inspections, and conducting job hazard analysis. Developing and delivering EHS Training courses, Toolbox Talks, etc specifically designed to address the varied hazards associated with Field Service and/or office work. Training will include instructor-led, webinar and online formats. Assisting with accident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions for Field Service employees, in order to reduce accidents and injuries Providing oversight of the Field Services contractor safety program Working closely with the Pre-Sales Teams to assist in both evaluating EHS concerns and providing solutions to assist with the project bidding and contract negotiation process

This position will also work closely with global, country, and regional management teams to develop new initiatives for workplace safety programs that result in reduced injury and illness rates throughout the Motorola Solutions - North America Field Services organizations.

Preferred Skills:
BS in Occupational Safety, or related engineering or physical science degree 5-10 years of progressive experience implementing EHS procedures and initiatives in construction and general industry environments.Extensive knowledge of construction worksite safety practices and applicable EHS related regulations and standards, effective accident investigation and root cause analysis skills, corrective action planning, Job Hazard Assessments, industrial and office ergonomics, basic use of IH monitoring devices and techniques Working knowledge of the ISO 14001 / 45001 standards Safety Professional Certification is a plus Ability to develop, coordinate and deliver EHS training. This position will require up to 10% travel within North America to visit Field Service locations.
