What you’ll bring

  • Experience in a laboratory or environmental testing setting is preferred, but not required

This position entails mounting, calibration, maintenance, environmental testing, and certification of research instrumentation and flight hardware.

+ Determines test procedures and conceives designs for special test equipment for use in situations where performance requirements are hard to achieve or the item being tested is for a new use:

+ Evaluates test results in terms of operational sufficiency, feasibility, or meeting objectives; modifies equipment and parts to resolve fit/interface conflicts with the structures/hardware.

+ Designs and fabricates special test mockups incorporating standard test equipment; designs and fabricates special test equipment required to operate, repair, calibrate, environmentally test, and maintain specified electronic systems.

+ Recommend, generate, modify, and adheres to the highly technical procedure, test plans, and/or proofread existing or new procedures of others for accuracy and completeness for use in the Armstrong Management System.

+ Familiar with and able to employ basic mechanical hand tools: torque wrenches, drills, tap and die equipment.

+ Perform test article mounting, be familiar with basic machinist skills, and test equipment mounting.

Responsible to perform testing to determine performance characteristics and checking preliminary engineering designs of avionics, telecommunications, optical, or other electronic instrumentation systems and equipment, such as avionics systems and flight research instrumentation. Using standard measurement techniques; performs and/or participates in the final evaluation of test results in terms of user objectives and requirements.

During testing, troubleshooting, aligning, maintaining, and calibrating the incumbent uses the following equipment: Schwien manometer, rate gyro tables, vibration shakers, frequency generators, frequency counters, centrifuge, pressure/vacuum chambers, ovens, scopes, output meters, RF meters, watt meters, multi-meters, transistor checkers, circuit and component analyzers, system mock-ups, spectrum analyzers, wave meters, load banks, and signal generators.

Designs and fabricates one-of-a-kind mock-ups and fixtures for use in calibrations and environmental tests for various flight hardware and instruments.

Responsible for carrying out assigned duties in a manner consistent with the safety policies defined by the supervisor.

Reports safety hazards, potentially hazardous situations, and close calls to the supervisor. Assists supervisor to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions.

Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

+ Valid Driver's License - required

+ Ability to travel - required. (Less than 25%)

+ Education: Associates Degree - preferred

Experience:

+ Minimum of Three (3) years experience in an Environmental Testing Laboratory - required

+ Seven to (7) to ten (10) years' Electronics Background - required

+ Strong background and experience in the employment of test equipment: (Volt Meters, DMM, Frequency counters, and Frequency synthesizers) - required

Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain US Secret Clearance - required, active secret - preferred

Physical Demands:This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision and acceptable depth perception.

Work Environment:The diversity of working conditions ranges from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.

System One environmental laboratory technician job description

Contract Length: 12 months

Due to the urgency and specificity of our need, we can only respond to candidates who have the proven specific experience noted below:

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), EM technician I is responsible for performing a variety of sampling activities in all aseptic and controlled areas of the facility as well as the plant utility systems.? Personnel must be able to pass and maintain aseptic qualifications and department training.? Good aseptic technique, sampling technique, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), teamwork, and maintaining a safe working environment are expected. In addition to performance of routine monitoring, EM technician I will be responsible for overall operation of the laboratory including EMS operation, stocking of supplies, preparation of equipment, routine sanitation activities, and overall lab upkeep.
  • Perform environmental monitoring tasks for the aseptic environment, other controlled areas, and plant utility systems following specified instructions and techniques from Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Training Material, and other GMP documents.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a GMP compliant and safe manner.
  • Document all tasks within MODA, LIMS, or standard laboratory paper documentation utilizing GDP principles.
  • Entry of information into laboratory logbooks as applicable for tasks per SOP.
  • Partner and communicate with operations, aseptic services, validations, and other site departments as required for support of operations and GMP processes.
  • Perform Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) alarm acknowledgement.
  • Actively participate in daily and weekly laboratory meetings.
  • Accurately complete task management tools and handover communications.
  • Perform general lab tasks including cleaning and equipment preparation.
  • Maintain training for all required tasks.
  • Responsible for individual contributions to achieve team deliverables.
  • May perform work independently, or as an integral member of a team.
  • Interacts with other team members in the laboratory, within the Microbiology Department, and with colleagues from other departments (primarily within the Quality organization).

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • 0- 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills associated with data entry, along with attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated ability to organize time independently, multi-task, and be able to meet objectives in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
  • Must maintain aseptic qualification.
  • Long periods of standing and working in controlled environment gowning.
  • Ability to lift necessary equipment (less than 50 lbs), occasional reaching and bending may be required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and data entry.? Extended time working on computers or tablets may be required.
  • Able to ability to achieve and maintain gowning qualifications as well as perform work in an aseptic environment.
  • Maintains a clean and organized environment.
