Where the Chemistry Happens...

This position reports into the Energy and Verbund Management Expertise organization for North America. This candidate will provide regional leadership for operational excellence, reliability across value chains, ensure energy sustainability and efficiency, and develop site infrastructure, assets and capabilities across North America to help the region reach its growth and profitability targets. Additionally, this position will support the Regional Business Units' (RBU) in providing transparency and improvements to North American infrastructure, cost competitiveness, energy optimization, carbon footprint of products, and site models.

- Partnering with various BASF sites by helping facilitate and develop models that determine the optimum short- and long-term use of raw materials, power, and utilities.

- Analyze economic and energy data from BASF internal systems including PIMS, EDL, and SAP PIMS, operations database EDL, and SAP.

- Partner with BASF's automation group to identify and develop the tools necessary to optimize energy usage across BASF sites in North America.

- Create accurate and validated models simulating energy demand and product production.

- Develop, maintain, and utilize a multi-business Simulator/Optimizer for BASF's Geismar and Freeport sites that interface with internal BASF systems, which simulates the key raw materials and utilities the businesses utilize.

- Collaborate with the BASF users of the Verbund models to encourage data driven decisions involving utilities and raw materials.

- Facilitate the strategic development and implementation aspects of collecting, cleansing, storing, analyzing, and reporting of operational data.

- Evaluation of data analytics software that serves these insights quickly and accurately to enrich and analyze plant data.

- Facilitate discussion across sites and associated BUs for continuous data collection, preparation, analysis, and reporting.

- Understand actual performance, correct deviations, and predict scenarios to promote more effective business continuity.

- Identify trends and anomalies from past performance.

- Gather context by analyzing data collected from disparate sources.

- Identify key drivers that impact business outcomes / curtailments.

- Use knowledge of BASF software and systems, including EXCEL, Power BI, and SQL databases to support sites in their journey to improve energy tracking and usage.

- Assist sites in energy reporting and data analysis, including ISO 50001, RESHA, and SCOTT.

- Support in the evaluation of new technologies that will be a key to BASF achieving its 2030 and 2050 emission goals.

- Lead development of strategies for production of utilities, including, but not limited to steam, electricity, demineralized water, cooling water, compressed air, and wastewater treatment.

- Review investment proposals which involve energy production, conservation, or significant consumption to assure proper use of technology and correct economic evaluation.

- Develop site energy concepts for manufacturing sites by the analysis of present and future demands, condition of production facilities and impacts of potential efficiency programs

- Assist in technology evaluation for North America, encouraging manufacturing and energy efficiency and improving performance.

- Assist sites in infrastructure analysis and investment planning.

- Support value chain objectives critical to long term strategy growth for North America, especially regarding energy optimization.

- Serve as a liaison between appropriate site and global organizations for technical evaluations of infrastructure projects.

- Partner with state and federal officials and other companies to positively affect governmental regulations and legislation that affect energy and utilities.

- Develop and analyze long-term utility strategy papers.

Qualifications - Required

- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering or relevant field

- Display critical thinking in evaluating data and decision making.

- Ability to lead teams without direct supervisory responsibility.

- Strong interpersonal communication and team building skills.

- Strong results orientation.

- Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications - Preferred

- Fundamental understanding of energy supply industries preferred.

- Experience in matrix organization preferred.

- Understanding of basic economic principles and investment evaluations preferred.

**Utilization Management Specialist, PRN**

**JOB SUMMARY:**

Facilitates optimal reimbursement through accurate certification and complete chart documentation ensuring that the appropriate admission status is ordered. Conducts initial admission based on utilization review medical necessity criteria. Refers cases for secondary review when appropriate. Refers and consult with the multidisciplinary team to promote appropriate communication in the absence of definitive documentation and/or review criteria to support hospital stay.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Facilitates optimal reimbursement through certification and denial processes.

+ Facilitates throughput of patients admitted urgently or emergently through the emergency department.

+ Participates as an active partner with multidisciplinary team members to ensure case is in the appropriate level of care setting.

**TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:**

_UTILIZATION REVIEW (INTERMEDIATE):_ - Demonstrates expertise of utilization review in practical applications of a difficult nature. Demonstrates mastery in InterQual Level of Care Criteria and Milliam Care Guidelines.
