The Role:
The selected candidate will assist with Driving Under the Influence matters handled by the DMV, which includes, but is not limited to, representing the DMV at administrative hearings and assisting the Office of the Attorney General with cases under appeal. The selected candidate will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the division by drafting and processing contracts, presenting hearings, responding to Freedom of Information requests and providing informal legal opinions on various legal matters. The individual hired for this role must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The Assistant General Counsel will provide legal support and guidance on a full range of higher education issues impacting the colleges and universities within the jurisdiction of the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education (BOR). This position provides legal support on a variety of matters including, but not limited to, the following: discrimination complaints from both students and employees; interprets statutes, regulations and policies; addresses legal questions as they arise; provides training to assure legal compliance; and review and drafting of contracts and other agreements. Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Associate General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel is responsible for providing legal support and guidance through effective performance in these essential duties:
Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues relevant to higher education and public sector institutions.
Supply legal guidance and training for faculty and staff in the form of written memoranda and oral presentations.
Provide legal advice to academic and administrative leaders from all CSCU institutions on a variety of substantive issues.
Represent senior CSCU executives and managers in administrative hearings. Serve as a point of contact for litigation matters, including serving as Attorney General designee for Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO).
Develop training materials and other resources, coordinate training for institutions on legal issues, including Freedom of Information, copyright, intellectual property, and information technology.
Draft and participate in the legal review of contracts, leases, licenses, royalty agreements, and other documents through which CSCU transacts business.

The Vermont Office of the Attorney General, Department for Children and Families, Family Services Legal Division, has an immediate opening for an energetic and talented full-time Assistant Attorney General who will be responsible for representing the Department for Children and Families before the Human Services Board.
Description
The responsibilities of this position include litigating Family Division cases before the Vermont Superior Courts and representing the Department in administrative appeals before the Human Services Board. Other duties include contract review, related administrative legal work, and training family service workers in all aspects of the litigation process. Travel across the state will be required. Located in Waterbury, the AAG will be responsible for handling litigation in Vermont Superior Courts, Family Division.
Compensation
This Assistant Attorney General position is an exempt full-time position. Salary and benefits will be based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the State of Vermont Attorney Pay Plan. Minimum Requirements

Staff also test motor fuel octane, investigate complaints about gasoline stations and heating fuel, and inspect restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores for cleanliness and safety.
The Investigations Division protects the public from unfair or deceptive business practices, fraud, and scams that affect the Connecticut marketplace, including those sometimes associated with home improvement and new home construction. The Division enforces CUTPA and helps to mediate disputes between buyers and sellers. This division is responsible for all legal action the agency is authorized to take.
The Gaming Division works to ensure the highest degree of integrity in the conduct of all forms of legalized gaming within the State of Connecticut and the federally recognized Tribal Nations within the State, by licensing or permitting all individuals and entities that are involved with legalized gaming and by monitoring and educating to ensure compliance with the gaming laws and the Tribal-State agreements.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
In this position, you will provide legal guidance to varying levels of leadership within CTECS.
Key responsibilities within this role are as follows:
* Advise on various employment and school law topics (e.g., special education, school discipline, civil rights, Title IX, student privacy);
* Manage emerging legal and compliance trends;
* Represent the agency at hearings;
* Collaborate with other state agencies and State Board of Education;
* Negotiate contracts;
* Provide guidance on labor relations matters related to nine bargaining units with CTECS;
* Facilitate trainings and presentations on legal topics to administrators and staff across both virtual and in person environments;

OUR MISSION: The mission of the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is to promote a fair and equitable marketplace and ensure safe products and services for Connecticut Consumers. The department is comprised of several divisions, each of which oversees different industries that it regulates:
The Drug Control Division works to protect the health and safety of Connecticut residents by regulating the distribution of all legal drugs, medical devices and cosmetics in Connecticut. It also oversees Connecticut licensing for pharmacies, pharmacists, controlled substance providers and laboratories, pharmacy technicians, and drug manufacturers and whole salers. The division also manages and regulates the Medical Marijuana Program and the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).
The Food and Standards Division regulates all persons and businesses that manufacture or sell food products in the state, and ensures that weighing and measuring devices in Connecticut are accurate. Staff also test motor fuel octane, investigate complaints about gasoline stations and heating fuel, and inspect restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores for cleanliness and safety.
The Investigations Division protects the public from unfair or deceptive business practices, fraud, and scams that affect the Connecticut marketplace, including those sometimes associated with home improvement and new home construction. The Division enforces CUTPA and helps to mediate disputes between buyers and sellers. This division is responsible for all legal action the agency is authorized to take.
The Gaming Division works to ensure the highest degree of integrity in the conduct of all forms of legalized gaming within the State of Connecticut and the federally recognized Tribal Nations within the State, by licensing or permitting all individuals and entities that are involved with legalized gaming and by monitoring and educating to ensure compliance with the gaming laws and the Tribal-State agreements.
The License Services Division processes more than 208,000 licenses each year. Staff also responds to questions about renewals, payments, and other processing issues related to licenses, permits and registrations.
The Liquor Control Division safeguards the health and safety of Connecticut citizens by regulating all persons and firms involved in distributing, selling, and dispensing alcoholic liquor in order to prevent sales to minors and intoxicated persons, maintain product integrity, and ensure that licensed premises are safe and sanitary.
The Occupational & Professional Licensing Division protects the public health, safety, and welfare of Connecticut citizens by assuring that only qualified, competent persons are licensed in the occupational trades and in several professional licensing categories. This division also administers eighteen professional Boards, Councils and Commissions to review, establish and maintain educational training and examination standards and in several cases, to help implement and administer statutory and regulatory provisions.

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with sub-recipients, vendors, and other contractual partners supporting RHTP initiatives
Providing legal counsel on federal and state regulatory compliance matters affecting rural health programs and grant administration
Reviewing and advising on reports, applications, and other submissions to the federal government and other entities to ensure legal accuracy and compliance
Conducting legal research on issues related to rural health policy, healthcare law, grant administration, and applicable state and federal requirements

* Experience drafting and negotiating cooperative agreements, such as memoranda of understanding or memoranda of agreement.
* Experience working with or supporting government or corporate contract or procurement units.
* Experience performing legal analyses related to compliance with federal grant reporting, terms, and conditions.
