Job Description AECOM has a position available for an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) & Air team. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a career path to Project Management. Located in Germantown, MD. Responsibilities and skillsets for this role include, but may not be limited to, the following: Competency in environmental regulatory programs and compliance including: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) EHS Auditing Competency in environmental due diligence; must qualify as an ASTM 1527-21 Environmental Professional. Ability to develop and manage Phase II environmental site investigations including water, soil, and air sampling, investigation techniques and procedures. Provide technical support for regulatory compliance and environmental due diligence projects, including completion of technical quality reviews. Effectively communicate with all levels of a project team and attend client meetings, as requested. Develop client relationships and assist in business growth with a focus on the Baltimore area. Mentor junior level staff. Obtain AECOM Project Manager Certification within 1 year of employment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BA/BS +4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time, primarily regionally but may include some nationwide, overnight travel. Excellent writing and communication skills is a must. Valid Driver's License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review. Your Responsibilities as an Environmental Scientist: Collect soil, water, air, and/or building material samples. Understand MS4, 20SW and other MDE permit regulations. Familiar with MDE Stormwater Design Manual Gather, analyze, and interpret data. Input data into template reports. Actively develop your own career growth. What we're looking for: BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field. 2+ years of experience with environmental field sampling and data collection. Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices. 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. Light construction experience/hands-on skills a plus. Experience with data management and report preparation. Ability to edit Phase I and II ESAs is preferred. Valid driver's license, good driving history and reliable transportation are required. Strong communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
