TRC is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist in the Air Measurements Practice of our Warrendale, PA or Groveport, OH office to assist with the performance of air emissions testing projects at various industrial facilities. Responsibilities * Projects involve a considerable amount of overnight travel, projects may be all over the country. The field-testing portion of each project typically lasts from 1 to 5 days and the test teams are generally home on the weekends, but some projects may require working or traveling on a weekend. The number of people needed in the field and the number of days in the field, varies with each project and changes from week to week. Expect 75% of the weeks to involve field work. * When not in the field, duties may include equipment calibrations and repairs, prep and packing for future projects, data reduction and processing, report writing, and tasks of that nature. * During testing, the Environmental Scientist will be at the location recording data, operating equipment, or working in the trailer recovering samples, performing analysis, etc. * The Environmental Scientist will become proficient in the various EPA sampling methods and develop knowledge about many types of industrial processes. The experienced Environmental Scientist typically advances into either a client-oriented career path of project management and business development or into a technical oriented career path working with the latest monitoring and analytical equipment. Qualifications * Must be able to comfortably lift and carry 50 pounds. The testing projects can involve moving equipment to, and working at, elevated test locations, such as an exhaust stack platform or a rooftop. Access to the test location may be by elevator, stairs, or a ladder. * Must be able to work comfortably throughout all the seasons as much of the work is outdoors. * Completion of assigned responsibilities in a team setting with strong written and oral communication skills, and moderate computer skills. * Successful completion of a background check and drug test (including marijuana) prior to employment or within five working days from date of hire. Once hired, participation in the TRC random drug testing program. * Possession of a valid driver's license and successful completion of a pre-employment motor vehicle records check to confirm a good driving record. Once hired, maintaining valid DOT driver status (not Commercial Driver's License) is required. * Successful completion of all required annual safety training. * College degree is required, science or engineering preferred. The Environmental Services - Technician reports to the Environmental Services - Supervisor and the Safety Officer and Facilities Director. RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers. Empty wastebaskets, transport other trash and waste to disposal areas. Sweep, scrub, wash, and/or polish floors using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubber. Dust and polish furniture and equipment. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. Polish silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings. Remove debris from driveways, garages, and receiving areas. Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items. Sort clean linens and store them in linen closets. Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork waxing and polishing as necessary. Request repair services as needed. Disinfect equipment and supplies using the appropriate products and ensure dwell time is maintained. Hang draperies/cubicle curtains and dust window blinds. Move and arrange furniture. Observe precautions required to protect patient's property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors. Wash dishes and clean kitchens, cooking utensils, and silverware. Follow infection control guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts. Follow cleaning schedule form for designated areas. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience preferred in environmental services. Good organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and customer relation skills and good reading and writing skills. Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling, or pushing of carts and equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel. High School Diploma preferred.
