We are looking for a meteorologist who knows the science but can tell a relatable weather story. The successful candidate must have a passion for severe weather and the ability to sustain superior continuous coverage for long periods of time on all platforms. We want a team player who can help with every aspect of meteorology, from forecasting, to preparing graphics, to reporting in the field. The ideal candidate embraces new technology and is willing to explore new ways to present the weather story. Our next meteorologist will be an accurate forecaster, keep our viewers and employees safe, convey appropriate tone, summarize complicated information and stay cool under pressure. This candidate should also believe in all aspects of community involvement including, but not limited to, speaking at schools and other community functions. You will report to the News Director.
Job Responsibilities:
Give viewers and users the First Warning Weather with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts
Provide urgent, immediate weather information before and during severe weather events
Be able to simultaneously provide content on TV, for our radio partners, and on our digital and social platforms
Utilize all the technology and tools available to us, to tell an intriguing weather story
Will be deployed in the field during weather events
Summarize facts and clearly communicate content for broadcast and digital that connect with viewers and users
Participate in promotional activities including public appearances
Always convey a positive brand image for the station in the community and on all platforms
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Write web and social stories about the weather
Interact with viewers and users on social media sites
Flexibility to work any shift
In-person attendance is required
Qualifications Requirements:
In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting
Proven on-air experience in handling breaking news and severe weather coverage
Experience with extended coverage of Tropical Storms/Hurricanes preferred
Dynamic, polished and authoritative on-air presence with a conversational weather presentation
Knowledgeable about how to interpret and translate high-powered radar data
Proficient in using WSI and Baron graphics and technology
Strong organizational skills
Excellent forecasting and on-air skills
Ability to tell a compelling weather story
Ability to do live field reporting on weather and other related topics
Education:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology or related field
NWA and CBM seals are a plus

Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a professional position that conducts site inspections to evaluate applications to install modify or repair onsite sewage and disposal systems that generate up to ten thousand gallons of flow per day. This position conducts plan reviews to ensure applications for onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems meet permitting requirements of all pertinent laws and rules governing the installation, modification or repair on onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems. This position will conduct site inspections, plan reviews, and construction compliance inspections for the permits to install, modify or repair onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems to ensure compliance with Chapter 381, Florida Statutes, Chapter 64E-6, Florida Administrative Code, and all other pertinent laws and rules. This position performs activities relating to permitting, monitoring and enforcement of businesses located in areas zoned for industrial/manufacturing use where onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems are utilized. Meets with property owners, engineers, developers, licensed septic contractors and others to discuss design criteria, propose solutions to abate violations and educate them as to the pertinent laws and rules governing onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems.
This position will participate as the ATU/PBTS septic coordinator overseeing the registration, inspection and collection of fees for this program.
As part of the inspection procedure, regularly interprets and explains the significance of public health laws, administrative codes, and other sanitation and safety standards to facility operators. Regularly prepares inspection reports, maintains records and lists and enters facility and inspection info into EHD. Coordinates the annual re-permitting of all assigned program facilities.
This position will perform work in the septic section of Environmental Health to include permit review and processing, compliance inspections and site evaluations in all areas of the OSTDS program. This position will also issue permits that are in compliance with Chapter 64E-6, F.A.C. Furthermore, this position will perform work in the Facilities section to ensure facilities are in compliance with associated F.A.C codes.
This position will be responsible for timely submittal of all paperwork pertaining to assigned programs including EAR's.
This position will perform all other duties as required including inspections, sample collections, sanitary surveys and other compliance investigations.
This position may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disasters or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. This position will maintain confidentiality and security of records as specified by departmental regulations and laws.
Regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of chapter 60K-15, Florida Administrative Code. On-call participation.
