BCDC is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join the Adapting to Rising Tides Data and Science Unit. This position will support this unit, as well as the agency as a whole, with expertise in climate science and sea level rise adaptation as it applies to planning and policy initiatives around coastal management. This position represents a unique opportunity to ensure that regional decisions regarding adaptation planning and shoreline project permitting is informed by cutting-edge academic and scientific research alongside non-traditional or community knowledge. The Environmental Scientist performs complex and specialized science, planning, and policy tasks involving research and analysis, writing, and communications. About the Positions We're seeking Environmental Specialists at various levels to support large, heavy-civil infrastructure programs-including highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and airport projects delivered through both traditional and alternative methods. You will contribute to environmental planning, documentation, and permitting efforts. Experience delivering projects through both traditional and alternative methods (e.g., DB, CM/GC, P3). 8+ years of relevant experience specifically in NEPA compliance. Knowledge and experience with environmental review and compliance requirements in California. Experience with California EPA requirements and permitting. Experience with GPS/GIS mapping, data development and management, GIS/CADD integration, and finished map production.
