Environmental scientist job in Appleton, WI
Consolidate, treat, store, transport and/or dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes in accordance with environmentally responsible and compliant practices, policies, and procedures.
Perform routine inspections of customer site to meet environmental requirements.
Prepare compliant labeling and shipping documents to ship wastes to approved treatment or recycling facilities.
Perform cleanup of small leaks or spills in accordance with company and customer health and safety guidelines.
Use forklift and/or pallet jack as needed for movement of containers and loading of trailers.
Inventory and label containers in accordance with EPA and DOT regulations prior to shipment.
Maintain adequate supplies for collection and shipment of waste and recyclable materials.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Basic requirements:
2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous materials
Ability to operate equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack
Ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator as needed.
Have the ability to read, write and speak in English
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to work indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with Windows based programs (i.e. Excel and Word)
Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and RCRA Regulations
Has the ability to operate a powered industrial truck, e.g., forklift and possesses safe driving record.

Primary office work responsibilities include conducting review and documentation of environmental resources for energy projects, environmental permitting tasks, and construction/project compliance coordination. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Environmental Engineering Intern works with the Environmental Team, Project Engineers, and plant personnel on various Environmental tasks and projects. The responsibilities of the Environmental Engineering Intern vary based on assignments and department needs but may include wastewater treatment projects, wastewater treatment process improvements, and/or other Environmental initiatives.
Actively participate in design reviews, design changes and the development of wastewater treatment and other environmental projects as assigned.

Learn about various areas of cheese and whey processing plant operations including milk receiving, cheese make, drying, packaging, shipping, etc.
Learn about wastewater treatment process operations, including equipment/systems, operation and maintenance tasks, process monitoring and laboratory testing, performance objectives, and permit compliance requirements.
Actively meet and speak with plant employees to learn the various aspects and responsibilities of their jobs and environmental impacts
Work on wastewater treatment and other environmental projects to improve employee, process and plant efficiencies.
Gather, accurately document, and analyze data.
Collect follow-up data to determine the effectiveness of implemented and/or trial process improvements.
Take direction on assignments and work effectively in teams and independently to accomplish assignment objectives.
Acquire current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws related to wastewater treatment and other environmental programs relevant for a dairy manufacturing environment.
Actively meet and speak with Environmental Team and wastewater treatment employees to learn the various aspects and responsibilities of their jobs.
Learn to work safely and efficiently, while maintaining accuracy.
