Weston is seeking an Environmental Air Scientist for scheduled, and time-critical responses to site-related environmental issues, including disaster/emergency response, environmental investigations and remedial alternative analysis. The Scientist is expected to be knowledgeable of the calibration, maintenance, deployment, use and data collection for handheld, portable and transportable air sampling and monitoring devices. With senior level oversight, he/she will develop and implement sampling/monitoring and data collection plans. Experience in the implementation of multi-media, multi-matrix sampling techniques is also required.
Due to requirements of our contract with government agency, candidates must be U.S. citizens. This is necessary to comply with federal regulations and security requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* This position requires a minimum of a B.S. Degree and 5 years of recent and relevant experience with air sampling/monitoring protocols.
* Knowledge of the calibration, maintenance, deployment, use and data collection for handheld, portable and transportable air sampling and monitoring devices.
* With senior level oversight, develop and implement sampling/monitoring and data collection plans.
* Experience in the implementation of multimedia, multi-matrix sampling techniques.
* Collecting samples for field screening and/or laboratory analysis (soil, groundwater, and surface water).
* Responding to releases of oil and hazardous materials and providing assessment and contractor oversight services.
* Assist in environmental site assessments consistent with US EPA standards.
* Providing oversight and sampling during the installation of soil boring and well monitoring.
* Overseeing remedial excavation activities.
* Installing and operating remediation systems and conducting in-situ remediation.
* Manage analytical data (tabulation, QA/QC and evaluation of data).
* Preparing plans/maps/boring logs; and assisting with writing technical reports, work plans, etc.
Preferred Skills:
* Knowledgeable in field instrumentation i.e. the use of various air monitoring and multi-media sampling instruments. Abilities include calibration of field instruments, implementation in field, and interpretation of results.
* Experience with Geoprobe sampling; various drilling methods including HSA, ARCH, mud rotary and multimedia sampling.
* Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS) 100-800. Completion of ICS courses a plus.
* 40-Hour HAZWOPER
* Able to work in Levels C/B
Expected Outcomes:
* Duties will include being readily available to respond at a moment's notice, and periodic field assignments nationwide.
* Calibration and maintenance of a variety of multi-media monitoring and sampling equipment.
* Document field activities and prepared daily and final reports.
* In-field multimedia sampling.
* Proficient in the writing of technical documents and plans.
* Use level D-A PPE to make entries into potentially hazardous areas.
Technical and Operational Scope:
* Exercises judgment on applicability of methods and approaches in use and determines best approaches to problem solving when standard procedures are inadequate.
* Determines best method of data gathering, database management, and analysis of data to achieve goals.
* Consults with outside specialists to obtain most accurate and timely data possible while meeting project specifications and timetables.
* Prepare reports on methods and procedures as part of overall project.
* Maintain preparedness for immediate mobilization.
* Produces quality samples and sampling techniques from which sound scientific data can be drawn into relevant and pertinent evaluation reports to the client's satisfaction.
* Provides completed projects including draft and final reports within the established budget and schedule.
* Provides accurate identification of specimens and/or sound ecological assessment and evaluations.

* Conduct/participate in natural resource field investigations, including but not limited to waters of the US; potential habitat for threatened and endangered species; vegetative community; presence/absence surveys, specimen collection and handling; construction monitoring; and stormwater and erosion control monitoring and compliance.
* Prepares technical report of findings; supports preparation of permits and NEPA documents and provides peer reviews of reports prepared by others.

What will you contribute?

* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, technical writing, computer and communication skills desired.
* The ideal candidate would have experience in identification of waters of the United States (including wetlands); Section 404/401 permitting including Nationwide Permits, related Pre-construction Notifications, Regional General Permits, and possibly Individual Permits.
* Ability to obtain authorization from the USFWS

* Experience with Mojave Desert tortoise surveys as an Authorized Biologist is preferred.
* Experience with BLM plant surveys and other rare plant surveys in California and Nevada preferred.
* Impact analysis including NEPA and related documentation.
* Stormwater and erosion compliance experience.
* Wetland and stream condition assessment. Wetland and stream mitigation.
* Basic stream hydrologic principles.
* GIS skills and GPS equipment familiarity.
* The successful applicant must have a general understanding of one or more of the following industries: infrastructure, transportation, state and local governments, or water quality.
* Prior experience with the Las Angeles and Sacramento District of the USACE and NDOT projects preferred.

What will you contribute?

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Hydrologist I is the entry-level class in the professional Hydrologist class series. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Environmental Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting environmental compliance activities across all fuel-related operations, including underground storage tanks (USTs), aboveground tanks (ASTs), fueling stations, and associated systems. Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have good technical and organizational skills and be able to work independently on assigned project tasks with limited supervision.
Preference will be given to candidates with a university or college degree in environmental science, geology, or other applied science (or currently working towards degree), or a high school diploma with at least one year of applicable experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering consulting firm.
Position includes the performance of field environmental assessments and compliance audits; soil, vapor, and groundwater sampling; stormwater compliance sampling; and/or mold, indoor air quality investigations, lead inspections, asbestos air monitoring, and asbestos surveys for private and public sector clients.
Technical requirements:
