Impact
As a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), you will provide independent oversight of EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant-funded soil and groundwater remediation projects for municipal clients in the Kansas City, Missouri area. This role focuses on compliance, documentation, and technical review rather than hands-on remediation, and directly supports safe, effective cleanup and redevelopment of Brownfields properties in coordination with EPA Region 7 and state and local regulators.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide on-site oversight of Brownfields cleanup activities (soil and groundwater) to verify work is performed in accordance with approved work plans, QAPPs, HASPs, and applicable regulations.
Monitor and document contractor performance, including adherence to health and safety requirements, Davis-Bacon prevailing wage, Buy America/BABA, and other federal grant conditions.
Coordinate with EPA Region 7, State of Missouri regulatory agencies, and municipal staff to support CERCLA §104(k), 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance), and 40 CFR Part 33 (DBE) compliance.
Prepare and/or review task-based work plans, field oversight and inspection reports, sampling documentation, and grant compliance reports.
Maintain detailed records of site visits, meetings, and regulatory communications to support Brownfields grant reporting and closeout.
Participate in meetings with city staff, community stakeholders, and regulators to communicate cleanup status, issues, and recommended actions.
Help identify and resolve field issues related to remediation execution, access, safety, and compliance, escalating concerns to the prime contractor and client as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
Meets EPA's definition of an environmental professional (QEP) with at least 5+ years of relevant environmental or Brownfields/remediation oversight experience.
Demonstrated experience overseeing soil and groundwater remediation projects, preferably under EPA Brownfields Cleanup or similar federal/state programs.
Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120); 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher current or obtained prior to field mobilization.
Strong working knowledge of CERCLA §104(k), 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance), 40 CFR Part 33 (DBE), Davis-Bacon, and Buy America/BABA requirements.
Proven ability to supervise or oversee contractors in the field and document findings clearly and objectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and common environmental inspection/reporting tools.

Predominantly office-based roles with little or no field oversight of remediation activities.
Roles focused solely on Phase I ESAs or due diligence without cleanup/remediation oversight.

Candidates without demonstrated responsibility for technical oversight, documentation, and regulatory coordination on cleanup projects.
Desired Skills
Direct experience on EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant projects or similar federally funded remediation programs.
Experience coordinating with EPA Region 7, state environmental agencies, and municipal or community redevelopment clients.
Familiarity with NHPA, ESA, and Clean Water Act permitting as they apply to Brownfields projects.
Strong technical writing skills for concise, defensible reports and regulatory correspondence.

Education and Experience Requirements
Recognized degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, or a closely related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

In the CDL Driver role, you will be traveling to locations along an assigned route where you will be responsible for packing, transporting, and properly disposing of waste materials in accordance with our environmentally responsible policies and procedures. This position requires up to four (4) overnights per week and some weekend work. You will be provided with a company card to pay for a hotel and given a daily per diem to cover food and other expenses.

Package and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
Complete required paperwork in accordance with appropriate regulations and customer policies, practices, and procedures.
Load and secure materials and waste or unload truck at various customer sites or Clean Earth locations.
Prepare and load truck with necessary supplies.
Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily while communicating any issues to the Manager or Dispatcher for resolution.
Perform a documented pre-trip and post-trip check on assigned truck prior to leaving and closing each day.
