Project Manager - Intermediate General Nature of Work: Under limited supervision, supports the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services' (SCDES) Bureau of Water (BOW) through the coordination and completion of projects. Coordinates and completes hydrogeological projects, including reviews and evaluations for land application and groundwater monitoring sites sites for NPDES permits. Reviews new projects for potential to impact groundwater and reviews closure plans for permits which are being terminated. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient with ePermitting or an equivalent electronic government permitting application. An extensive working knowledge of groundwater hydrogeology geochemistry, contaminant transport and hydrogeologic investigation techniques. A general understanding of all environmental programs as they relate to hydrogeology. Ability to write and communicate effectively An understanding and working knowledge of how to manage databases and use geospatial software. Knowledge of SCDES's mission, programs, and objectives. Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of projects. Ability to make presentations and prepare reports. Experience and knowledge with federal and state groundwater and wastewater permitting and compliance requirements. Knowledge of state government environmental regulatory policies, procedures, and processes. Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion to meet schedules and deadlines. Ability to interpret and apply environmental rules and regulations. Required Skills: A master's degree in hydrology, geology or geological engineering and one (1} year of related experience; OR a bachelor's degree in hydrology, geology or geological engineering and two (2) years of related experience. Completion of ePermitting Power User training; Expertise with ePermitting or an equivalent electronic government permitting application. Preferred Skills: At least 5 years of experience performing hydrogeological reviews and evaluations for land application and groundwater monitoring sites.     APTIM is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist, but will consider an entry level candidate, in the Atlanta, GA area, on a full-time basis, in primary support of our stormwater compliance program. There will also be opportunities to participate in a variety of other environmental compliance support tasks, including but not limited to, solid waste, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, DOT and RCRA compliance, site assessment and remediation, and/or environmental data management. The successful candidate will be experienced in supporting an environmental team. This position will require travel to client facilities to conduct stormwater inspection/sampling activities, environmental compliance reviews and/or gather related data. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory. Calibrating and using technical instruments. Gain familiarity with site specific requirements through review of permit and planning documents, including the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) or State-Specific General Permit, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, and any other applicable plans that have been prepared for the site. Demonstrate ability to efficiently plan, organize and schedule field activities within required frequencies and timeframes including adherence to required communication with client to obtain approval for site access. This includes performing compliance activities at multiple sites on the same day and monitoring forecasted weather conditions to ensure successful completion of weather dependent field activities. Field activities require travel to and from each site utilizing a personal vehicle and interfacing with client personnel at a facility level. Travel and flexibility of working hours is required to accommodate stormwater sampling requirements based on qualifying rain events. Field activities may require working in all types of field conditions/weather, overtime, and on weekends. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment. Preparing several PowerPoint (or similar) presentations of 30-40 minutes in length, highlighting particular and relevant themes of the voyage. Writing the Daily Expedition Report one or more times during the voyage, to encapsulate the guests' daily experiences. Responding to requests in a timely manner and being highly visible to guests throughout the voyage. Accompanying guests ashore with local guides, and acting as the representative of National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. Possessing strong skills in public speaking. Consistently representing Lindblad Expeditions with integrity and professionalism. Eating meals with guests and making an effort to dine with a variety of people over the course of each voyage. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Promotion/Sales- Should be familiar with the company philosophy and various programs offered by Lindblad Expeditions and be able to address and field questions from guests regarding the various programs offered. Conservation/Sustainability- Should become familiar with Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic's conservation and sustainability programs and be able to discuss the particular efforts in any itinerary where scheduled. Zodiac Operations- Should be prepared to assist with many aspects of Zodiac operations for shore excursions. Familiarity with Zodiacs and ability to drive a strong preference, but not a requirement. Safety- Should be prepared to participate in on-board safety training, meetings and drills, including abandon ship and fire drills. Will also participate in shore-based training as required by the Company. Must be very familiar with the Field Staff Handbook. Communication Skills Using the English language, this person must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend policies, legal guidelines, correspondence, and memos. Must also possess the ability to effectively communicate--both in writing and orally--with a professional demeanor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this position, this person is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. This person will also be required to write and type. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The physical demands per position are described in the Job Analysis sheet and are available to all applicants upon request. COMPENSATION STATEMENT Lindblad Expeditions determines the pay for contracts and positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted daily range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.
