Job DescriptionOverview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our EcoSciences Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Atlanta, Georgia or Orlando, Florida.
Your role
Provide project task schedules for assigned projects which includes a list of all required environmental documentation and permits, prioritized by project baseline schedules;
Provide project status updates at meetings and via tracking database;
Evaluation of impacts from various types of projects on the natural environment;
Coordinate with design professionals and overall project team for accurate depiction of natural resources on construction plans and to identify opportunities for avoiding and minimizing potential impacts;
Perform field investigations of projects sites including wetland and stream delineations with functional assessments according to applicable methodologies;
Perform GPS field mapping, post processing, and distribution of GPS-mapped resources in multiple formats;
Document, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data on projects of varying complexity and size;
Evaluate, map, and describe on-site habitats while identifying those potentially suitable to support protected species;
Prepare documentation and technical reports detailing the findings of ecological surveys and coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies;
Prepare special provisions and permit applications for various regulatory agencies, including the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS); Conduct site reviews with the USACE and/or other agencies and participate in project meetings.
About you
EDUCATION: B.A./B.S. or M.S. in a field of Science to commensurate with hiring discipline. The preferred candidate would have two years' experience since Bachelor's degree or one years' experience with Master's degree.
EXPERIENCE: 0-2 Years of professional experience in a related technical field.

Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues;

Compensation Details
The salary range listed for this role is $80k-$100k/year ($40-$50/hour). APTIM is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist, but will consider an entry level candidate, in the Atlanta, GA area, on a full-time basis, in primary support of our stormwater compliance program. There will also be opportunities to participate in a variety of other environmental compliance support tasks, including but not limited to, solid waste, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, aboveground storage tanks, spill prevention, DOT and RCRA compliance, site assessment and remediation, and/or environmental data management. This position will require travel to client facilities to conduct stormwater inspection/sampling activities, environmental compliance reviews and/or gather related data.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:**
+ Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory.
+ Calibrating and using technical instruments.
+ Gain familiarity with site specific requirements through review of permit and planning documents, including the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) or State-Specific General Permit, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, and any other applicable plans that have been prepared for the site.

The National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice (DEHSP) prevents exposures to environmental health hazards to improve the health of all people in all communities through applied environmental public health science and practice. The mission of the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Program (Tracking Program) is to provide information from a nationwide network of integrated health and environmental data that drives actions to improve the health of communities. The National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network is a multi-tiered, Web-based system with components at national, state, and local levels. The Project Manager shall have overall responsibility of the contract activities: planning, organizing, directing, controlling, staffing and reporting status, deliverables and schedules to the Government. As various Task Orders (sometimes referred to as Call Orders) are issued by the Government, the Project Manager shall ensure the deliverables are in compliance with the Task Order in terms of budget, schedule, and quality of the delivered product. Note: a Project Manager may oversee several Task Orders at one time. The Project Manager shall provide technical assistance services to support the Tracking Program in accomplishing its mission. Additionally, when gaps in data are found, the Tracking Program collaborates with partners to develop standards for new data collections, develop models, expand the utility of non-traditional public health data, or develop new methodologies for using existing data.
The Project Manager shall provide facilitation and coordination of the technical teams along the following functional team thematic areas: state and national public health data systems and emerging standards; working with the state health and environmental agencies; and developing strategies for dissemination of information to key audiences. Facilitate and coordinate work-groups, teams and forums. Specific tasks may include, but are not limited to, organizing online meetings, developing agendas, providing virtual meeting audio and webinar services, and facilitating meetings, taking notes. Conduct and facilitate both virtual and in-person meetings, training, and seminars as needed to support program activities. Virtual meetings are ad-hoc while in-person meetings are typically twice a year. Specific tasks may include, but are not limited to, developing agendas, organizing topics and speakers, facilitating, and taking notes. Assist program in strategic and annual planning by obtaining and synthesizing feedback from work group, team, and forum members. Maintain knowledge management for the program by completing and organizing documentation from work groups, teams and forums and by maintaining a Web-based, secure site to host documents and tools for the program and its recipients.

What You'll Do for Us:
Spearhead our site environmental management system, driving conformance with ISO 14001, AWS and champion certifications such as ISO 50001, and PAS2060.
Maintain progressive risk assessments, ensuring regulatory and KORE compliance with actionable strategies for improved environmental stewardship.
Lead and/or deliver general training to new associates, contractors and/or temporary personnel and technical trainings to assure capabilities are developed within the organization.
Synthesize environmental performance data, aligning it with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting standards to inform strategic decision-making.
Facilitate internal audits and maintain audit-readiness for legal compliance and Global Audit Organization (GAO) audits, environmental management system improvements and water stewardship program.
Manage legal conformity regarding environmental permits, regulatory reports, required documentation, or conditions required by EPA, GA DNR, Fulton County Dept. (Industrial Pretreatment Program), and TCEQ, as well as Company requirements such as ISO 14001, KORE, and AWS.
Manage legal conformity regarding environmental regulations regarding management of hazardous, non-hazardous, special, universal and biohazards wastes, and coordinates the disposition of non-conforming materials.
Ensure proper management of waste, including overseeing wastewater treatment plant operations and compliance with discharge permits, hazardous waste handling, and waste recovery initiatives in line with regulatory requirements.
Conduct inspections of the Environmental Programs including Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Hazardous Wastes, Non-Hazardous Waste, Biomedical Waste, Used Oil Management and to construction activities/project onsite.
Evaluate safety data sheets (SDS) of new ingredients, products, or chemicals substances and provide recommendations for regulatory compliance.
Conduct regulatory audits and inspections to waste service providers, municipal wastewater treatment plant, etc. as per company requirements.
Ensure appropriate site preparedness to respond to any environmental issue. Investigate any situation and ensure appropriate action plan is implemented to learn and improve.
Provide engineering design and maintenance input and support for all facility processes to ensure that they are sustainable by design and compliant with environmental requirements.
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts, advocating for continuous improvement in all environmental-related plans.
Participate actively in the Material Review Board, Continuous Improvement, Change Management, OU SES- Environmental Focus, and CPS Water and Energy Network Routines.
Lead the local Sustainability Committee, and actively engage in CPS networks to further our sustainable transformation goals.
Execute sustainability projects in alignment with the CPS 2030 strategy by implementing site-level actions from the water management roadmap and renewable energy strategy.
Coordinate data collection and reporting for water usage, energy consumption; ensure timely submission of sustainability KPIs to support ISO, AWS compliance, water and decarbonization goals.
Engage with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to track progress on CAPEX-funded projects for water reduction, replenishment, and renewable energy transition.
Identify and escalate operational risks or improvement opportunities related to resource management, proposing innovative solutions to achieve waste, water, and energy reduction targets.
Forge and nurture cross-functional relationships within the organization including other CPS location sustainability colleagues and leaders, external government agencies & non-profit organizations and key operational stakeholders to cultivate synergistic environmental solutions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Professional certification in Environmental Management (e.g., ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability; 5 or more years preferred.
Proficiency in English; Spanish skills are a plus.
Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, KORE requirements, carbon footprint assessment, water stewardship principles, waste management practices, and wastewater treatment plant operations, including associated technologies.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Functional expertise in internal audit processes, analytical thinking, innovation, complex problem-solving, critical thinking, data analysis, creativity, and decision-making.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
As required by OSHA an exposure evaluation has been done based upon a reasonably anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from the performance of employee duties. Based on the evaluation Housekeeping/Environmental Specialists have a High Risk for exposure.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS:
Computer, telephone, fax, commercial and residential equipment i.e. laundry equipment, buffer, vacuum, shampooer, furniture, medical equipment/supplies, housekeeping/laundry supplies, power cleaning tools, etc..
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Cleans common areas, resident rooms, restrooms, and administrative offices.
Dry dust/wet mops, scrubs, and vacuum floors.
Cleans draperies, privacy curtains, and blinds.
Dusts furniture. Washes walls and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, vents, and sills.
Empties and cleans wastebaskets and ashtrays.
Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
Replenishes bathroom supplies.
Dispenses lines, briefs, and other assigned products to appropriate areas.
Documents and reports equipment or products that need repair or replacing.
Reports promptly any resident concerns.
Attends in-service as scheduled.
Works assigned schedule including weekends and holidays.
The associate is authorized to have no access to resident health information as needed to provide treatment, for billing purposes or the purpose of healthcare operations.
Other duties may be assigned.
