Reporting to the Senior Director of Environmental, you will serve as the Sr. Environmental Specialist responsible for optimizing the daily performance of wastewater treatment systems across Conagra's manufacturing network. You will lead initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency of lagoon treatment, dissolved air flotation (DAF), neutralization, and equalization systems while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You will provide technical guidance, analyze system data, and support operator training to maintain best-in-class wastewater operations.
Your Impact
Serve as the subject matter expert on wastewater treatment process design, control, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and EHS teams to evaluate system modifications and upgrades.
Lead process monitoring and optimization of lagoon treatment, DAF, equalization, and neutralization systems. Evaluate biological and chemical treatment performance through sampling, laboratory analysis, and data trending. Develop operational playbooks.
Travel to various sites to identify and implement process improvements that optimize treatment efficiency, energy use, and chemical consumption.
Support daily operation of pumps, aerators, clarifiers, and other treatment infrastructure across the manufacturing network.
Ensure continuous compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local wastewater discharge permits and environmental regulations.
Set standards for operational logs, sampling records, and performance reports.
Support preparation of permit applications, renewals, and regulatory inspections.
Develop and deliver training for operators and plant personnel on treatment system operation, safety, and best practices.
Your Experience
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in operation and optimization of industrial or municipal wastewater treatment systems.
Experience in lagoon treatment systems, DAF units, neutralization, and equalization processes.
Experience interpreting data, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions.
Experience with SCADA systems, laboratory testing, and process control strategies.
Explain technical requirements to non-technical audiences.
Experience with wastewater solids management and agricultural land application preferred.
Wastewater operator certification or EIT / PE strongly preferred.

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee's actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees' equity. JOB DUTIES: Under limited supervision, this position performs environmental reviews for a variety of projects with the overarching goal of protecting Nebraska's natural resources. Examples of such projects include roads, bridges, dams, public utilities, etc. Gathers and analyzes technical data needed to assess the environmental impacts of proposed actions on fish, wildlife, associated habitat, and public lands. Provides guidance to project proponents and consults with state and federal agencies on project impacts to listed endangered and threatened species under the Nebraska Nongame and Endangered Species Conservation Act. Represents the agency at state interagency meetings, scoping meetings, public meetings, and reviews and prepares responses to agency or public comment requests. Develops and provides training and associated materials to public and private sector users of the agency's online Conservation and Environmental Review Tool (CERT). Assists in development and administration of the CERT and provides first-contact trouble shooting to users. Performs related work as required.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, geology, biology, agronomy, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, hydrology, community and regional planning, or a related field. Experience may substitute for education or a year-for-year basis.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Knowledge of: local, state and federal environmental laws, statutes, and regulations; environmental and technical evaluation and assessment techniques; best management practices as they may apply to protection of fish and wildlife habitat; life history and ecology of Nebraska endangered and threatened species; software and databases such as Adobe, ESRI GIS, and Microsoft Suite products.
Skills to: listen to and understand information received; effectively communicate and collaborate with a multitude of personalities; creatively address challenges in species conservation; prioritize a workload based on relative importance.
Ability to: use deductive reasoning to make informed decisions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and other agency representatives with a high level of professionalism; communicate data, reports, and recommendations to individuals and groups in a technical and non-technical manner; objectively handle controversial issues; comprehend and utilize maps and construction plans; organize and analyze data to develop conclusions; present information accurately and write reports.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment system, including UV disinfection and odor control systems.
Conduct routine field sampling and monitoring of wastewater.
Perform in-house laboratory bench testing for wastewater parameters.
Operate and maintain other mechanical resources/tools needed to support environmental compliance programs other than wastewater, including, but not limited to, street sweepers, forklifts, sprinkler systems, air cannons, and aeration systems.
Conduct visible emissions observations (EPA Method 9) and assist in the implementation of the site's fugitive dust plan.
Assist with housekeeping of outside areas, including routine inspection, labeling, and reorganizing of containers of chemicals, oils, and greases.
When directed, assist in the proper handling and disposal of various waste streams, including, but not limited to, unused chemicals, oils, and greases; scrap metal; discarded parts and equipment; empty totes and drums; etc.
Serves as laboratory backup for tank readings as needed.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
Maintain complete and accurate records, including QA/QC documentation, for all monitoring activities.
Maintain job-specific certifications and participate in ongoing training as required.
Qualifications:
Nebraska Class I Wastewater Operator Certification
Able to climb stairs, ladders, and lift 50 lbs in compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
Mechanically inclined with basic maintenance skills.
Prior lab experience preferred.

The Environmental Services Technician ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing routine and specialized cleaning tasks in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the hospital.
Essential Job Functions:
Clean and service patient rooms, offices, hallways, and all inpatient/outpatient areas.
Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment; sweep and dust-mop floors.
Wet mop rooms, corridors, stairways, and public spaces.
Empty trash, remove waste and soiled linens, and ensure proper disposal.
Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, mirrors, and high-touch surfaces.
Refill soap, towels, and other supplies.
Clean windows, glass, vents, and light fixtures.
Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mechanical floor scrubbers, buffers, and polishers.
Strip, wax, buff, and polish floors as assigned.
Perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms and prepare spaces for new occupants.
Follow all isolation and infection-control procedures.
Assist with hanging, removing, and transporting curtains and privacy dividers.
Shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture when needed.
Move furniture and equipment for cleaning, room setup, or special events.
Set up and tear down tables/chairs for meetings or events.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the department.

Join Olsson's Industrial Environmental team as an **Environmental Project Engineer** and be part of creating innovative solutions that drive positive change in communities. In this role, you will apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. The project engineer is a registered professional engineer, whose supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Key Responsibilities:
