Manages the operation of the facility's Waste Water Treatment System, including: Calibration of control instrumentation Procurement of treatment reagents Collection of performance samples and management of analysis by external laboratory Completion and submittal of discharge monitoring reports and other required reporting, and Scheduling of maintenance for treatment system. Manages the disposal of hazardous and non hazardous waste materials, including: Routine scheduling of waste removal & recordkeeping Periodic certification and regulatory report generation Arrangement for accommodations for special projects, and Investigates alternative to disposal options including opportunities for pollution prevention, waste minimization and recycling. Conducts weekly inspections of the facility, documents findings, arranges for and monitors progress of clean-up/remediation of problem areas. Conducts training for other employees regarding waste handling, chemical hazards, pollution prevention, waste minimization, etc. Coordinate and oversee Environmental Vac Truck contractor for facility. Directs hourly personnel in performance of environmental tasks. JOB REQUIREMENTS: At least 3 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist or a similar position in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or similarly related field is preferred Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to be decisive and apply sound and reasonable judgement under pressure. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with proven ability to prioritize tasks. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Your Opportunity The Environmental Specialist is responsible for Hanover Campus (factory, research and develop facility and distribution center) to ensure environmental compliance and continuously improve reduce our environmental impact. This position supports product stewardship efforts by supporting the reduction of utility usage, ESAB's carbon footprint and greenhouse gases.
