Essential Job Duties: The Environmental Staff Scientist will work within the Environmental group assisting with the workload. Primary duties include but are not limited to:
Travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, and onsite inspections/visits.
Implementing field sampling and investigation plans.
Preparation of field forms, memos, and written reports.
Coordinate, schedule, and perform site inspections .
Completing emergency spill cleanups.
Oversight of cleanups by subcontractors.
Other duties as assigned.

This position requires the use of a company vehicle on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record.

Work Environment: Job assignments in the field often involve work on sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. Participation in an OSHA-mandated medical surveillance program will be required, and safety training will be provided before being assigned to work on these sites

Job Description
We are hiring a 4 to 7 year environmental consultant to join our transportation and transit-focused environmental consulting group at either our Bloomington or White Bear Lake MN location. As a Project Scientist or Project Engineer, you will support environmental investigations and remedial actions for local and regional infrastructure projects with tasks to include deputy project management, proposal support, report preparation, and field support including soil and groundwater sample collection and environmental monitoring during construction to assist with the management of contaminated or regulated material handling.
Responsibilities
· Prepares reports and supports the successful completion of Corridor Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
· Manages daily field coordination of environmental construction monitoring for local and regional infrastructure projects with daily field reporting.

· Conducts field screening and sampling of soil and groundwater for various environmental contaminants.
· Implements Phase II Drilling Investigation work plans while overseeing drilling and/or excavation subcontractors, including conducting health and safety tailgate meetings.
· Oversees implementation of remedial actions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations/guidance.
· Documents test results and reviews test data for accuracy and completeness.
· Demonstrates understanding of construction-related activities and associated safe-work practices.

Qualifications/Skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with geologic /engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools;

The Environmental Technician consolidates, treats, stores, packs, transports and/or disposes of hazardous waste in accordance with environmentally responsible and compliant practices, policies and procedures. Maintain detailed and accurate records.

Role
As an Environmental Technician, you will assist clients in meeting compliance standards by inspecting and monitoring their sites while maintaining high levels of safety and integrity. Experience is not required, but related experience is a plus.
Responsibilities Include:
Perform environmental compliance inspections at an oil refinery using air monitoring equipment, and data collectors.
Supervise and perform environmental inspection, monitoring and testing;
Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) inspections using a flame ionization detector (FID);
Manage environmental database (LeakDAS);
Maintain identification of LDAR components and piping and instrument diagrams;
Maintain record keeping on monitoring
Generate maintenance work orders
Prepare and submit periodic reports.
Perform optical gas imaging inspections
Participate in weekly compliance and safety meetings
Other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills:
High School Diploma - Associates or Bachelors degree preferred;
Ability to acquire quickly knowledge of the environmental compliance requirements of 40 CFR Part 60 and State rules related to LDAR;
Experience reading P&IDs
Experience troubleshooting instrumentation;
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers, managers, and customers;
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel;
Ability to learn various environmental databases;
Must be able to work at heights up to 200 ft;
Must be comfortable working outdoors during all weather conditions

GHD has a great opportunity for an Environmental Technician to work with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group based out of our St. Paul, Minnesota office. This position is an integral part of our environmental services group and requires a diverse array of responsibilities and tasks to accomplish the objectives of the team. In this role you will perform a number of routine tasks following set procedures in the field of Environmental Science. Some problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude are required.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
Monitoring: Perform a wide variety of field duties for environmental projects including inspection, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of remediation/mitigation systems, water level measurement, and contractor oversight.
Environmental Sampling: Conduct sampling and monitoring for various media and constituents of concern by following established procedures.
Fieldwork: Travel to perform field work at project sites (approximately 90% field, 10% office). Overnight travel is expected up to 50% of the time, while other project sites are local. There are opportunities for regional travel or to support environmental emergencies/emergency responses (ER). Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reside near our St. Paul, Minnesota office.
Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow a range of mandatory work instructions (including use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.
Data Collection and Analysis: Perform basic data entry tasks, including data verification.
