Job Description: Ninyo & Moore, a SOCOTEC company, has an immediate opening for a Project Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist to assist in the management and growth of our environmental practice in Irvine, California. The candidate will be responsible for conducting and managing Phase I and Phase II environmental investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, project scheduling, staff mentoring, budget control, and meeting and interacting with clients and regulatory agencies, including familiarity working with the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Toxic and Substances Control, the Regional Water Quality Control Board and the local Environmental Health agencies. The candidate will also coordinate and participate in and oversee staff field activities, including logging of borings, trenches and cores; evaluating geologic and hydrogeological conditions; sampling soil, soil gas, and groundwater; and will prepare environmental proposals and reports. Duties of the Project Geologist/Engineer will also include providing technical support to staff-level engineers, geologists, and field technicians. Education: B.S. Degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field and appropriate related professional registration/certification (e.g., California Professional Geologist or Civil Engineer) preferred. An advance degree is a plus. Required Skills: The successful candidate will need to have 5-10 years of recent professional environmental consulting experience conducting most or all of the duties described above. The ideal candidate will bring local experience and familiarity with the geologic and engineering practice and a strong knowledge of state and federal regulations. The candidate should be a team player, be detail oriented, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Also, must have proficiency with Word, Excel, and Adobe. Experience with construction activities is also desired.

Responsibilities Support Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan inspections and ensuring compliance with applicable notification and reporting requirements. Conducting monthly stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) inspections and ensuring compliance with stormwater permitting requirements which may include stormwater sampling during a precipitation event. Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental data, ensuring accuracy and compliance (e.g., HMBP, Annual Waste Reports, etc.). Manage waste generated, manifests and recordkeeping in accordance with federal and state regulations. Conduct inspections of hazardous waste areas and above ground storage tanks Assist with aste sampling and develop waste profiles, manifests, and chains of custody. Support existing file management systems on SharePoint for relevant analysis, plan updates, inspections, etc. Support the execution of environmental programs, such as waste minimization, recycling, and circularity strategies, ensuring alignment with CA regulations. Support environmental sustainability initiatives. Qualifications BS in Engineering, or Science related field. 3 years of compliance experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.

Qualifications & Experience: BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields or equivalent years of experience 10+ years of experience in a client-oriented consulting environment with focus on industrial hygiene practice, specifically asbestos, lead-paint, hazardous building materials, management, indoor air quality and mold evaluations, and chemical exposure assessments State of California Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and State of California Lead Inspector/Assessor Attention to detail, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to identify problems and implement corrective actions. Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ability to deliver effective presentations and trainings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) General understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, building construction, renovation, and demolition. Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, lead, etc. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment over the duration of a work shift. Must be able to climb and descend a ladder.
