The candidate will be responsible for conducting and managing Phase I and Phase II environmental investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, project scheduling, staff mentoring, budget control, and meeting and interacting with clients and regulatory agencies, including familiarity working with the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Toxic and Substances Control, the Regional Water Quality Control Board and the local Environmental Health agencies. The candidate will also coordinate and participate in and oversee staff field activities, including logging of borings, trenches and cores; evaluating geologic and hydrogeological conditions; sampling soil, soil gas, and groundwater; and will prepare environmental proposals and reports. Duties of the Project Geologist/Engineer will also include providing technical support to staff-level engineers, geologists, and field technicians. Education: B.S. Degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field and appropriate related professional registration/certification (e.g., California Professional Geologist or Civil Engineer) preferred. An advance degree is a plus. Required Skills: The successful candidate will need to have 5-10 years of recent professional environmental consulting experience conducting most or all of the duties described above. The ideal candidate will bring local experience and familiarity with the geologic and engineering practice and a strong knowledge of state and federal regulations. The candidate should be a team player, be detail oriented, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Also, must have proficiency with Word, Excel, and Adobe. Experience with construction activities is also desired.

Assessment Work activities will include sorting through solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste and regulated materials. Assisting with the separation of the waste, weighing and inventorying items for the purpose of data analysis and reporting. Work requires the ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours. As experience is gained, motivated candidates will have the opportunity to become Team Leads and/or take on additional responsibilities coordinating assessment work activities for a wide variety of clients and preparing documentation related to the results of the assessments. As a key member of the stack team, this role will be responsible for a full range of duties including: Manage logistics of the project resources by organizing resources with the logistics manager and office managers prior to the field test Manage the onsite schedule and coordinate with the client plant contacts and regulatory contacts concerning scope changes. Manage all daily field operational and safety aspects of the site-specific stack programs. Responsible for data review and field quality control. Ensure the field test team is staffed appropriately for all tasks and lead, train and mentor field team personnel YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High School diploma or degree in related field 2+ years minimum of stack testing experience Advanced stack testing knowledge and QI credentials Intermediate knowledge in applicable Federal, State and Local regulations Capacity for overnight and local travel for multi-weekday projects up to 70% of the time or more. Flexibility is a must as the position may require weekend travel or work for a few projects during the year. Ability to work in outdoor industrial settings, including climbing to and working on elevated platforms (50ft - 300ft). Must be able to exert moderate physical effort, including lifting heavy materials up to 50 pounds. Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening.
