We are looking for an Industrial Hygiene Technician to join our Woburn, MA team!!!
The Industrial Hygiene Technician will be responsible for conducting environmental and occupational health inspections, sampling and analyzing air, water, and other materials for hazardous substances, and recommending control measures to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with regulations.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Under supervision, conduct asbestos, lead-based paint, mold and/or other hazardous materials surveys.
Provide asbestos and lead-based paint oversight during abatement activities.
Collect detailed field notes and photographs of site conditions and findings.
Prepare chain-of-custody documents for analytical testing, recording survey data on approved forms completely and legibly.
Ability to compose detailed sample location maps.
Compile and organize data for report. Present data and make recommendations to upper-level staff on recommendations. Prepare reports or portions of reports detailing survey/project information.
After training, use standard and specialized equipment, such as hand tools for collection of building material samples, high volume and low volume pumps, rotometer, XRF analyzer, moisture meter, mold pump, infrared camera, IAQ meter, and/or others.
After training, ability to calibrate instruments, use equipment in the field, download data, clean and maintain equipment.
Implement Atlas's health and safety policies and procedures.
Approval to drive a company vehicle or rental vehicles - valid Driver's License and ability to pass MVR screening
Travel locally and regionally to project sites as required.
Work night shifts and weekends when required, up to 70%.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or bachelors degree (preferred) in environmental science, environmental studies, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, public health, project management, construction, or related field and 1-3 years of experience as an industrial hygiene technician
Valid driver's license, must meet qualifications to successfully complete Drug-Alcohol Testing.
A professional license in at least one of the following: Asbestos, Lead, and/or Mold
Must be able to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
Able/willing to conduct asbestos/lead/mold remediation monitoring projects, asbestos/lead/mold surveys, and/or exposure monitoring and specialized industrial hygiene projects.
40-hr HAZWOPER certification preferred
Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to travel locally (eastern MA) up to 100%.
Ability to travel regionally (New England) up to 50%
Reliable transportation.
Technical Requirements:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations applicable to asbestos and lead preferred

MassDEP seeks applicants for the position of Environmental Analyst IV (EA IV) within the Bureau of Air and Waste (BAW). The position is based in the Boston Office located at 100 Cambridge St, Boston, MA. The position will report to the “SW-HW Data Systems Management Branch Chief”, of the Information and Data Systems Implementation (IDSI) Section. This person should have strong communication skills and be able to work with others in a collaborative team environment. The workplace is a hybrid work model that combines working in the office and remotely.
The Environmental Analyst IV (EAIV) will serve as both the “TURA Data Manager” and the “Public Records Request Coordinator” for the Bureau of Air and Waste (BAW).
The EAIV will answer the requests per all protocols within the mandatory 10-day window, recording the events in the applications supplied, will ensure that all fees are assessed and coordinate with multiple agency departments - Revenue, Office of General Council, the agency's Public Records Coordinator, as well as all parts of BAW. This information is found in the Department's data systems which include the Environmental Protection Integrated Computer System (EPICS), Site Management System, e-DEP, and others.
The Public Records Coordinator responsibilities will include:
Serve as primary point of contact for BAW Public Records Request (PRR) responses,
Research, develop and produce the PRR response,
Track responses in the appropriate data systems,
Interact with MassDEP Boston and Regions in pursuit of information,
Coordinate Fee collection with Revenue.
The EAIV will also serve as the Toxic Use Reduction Program's Data Manager ensuring that all state, and federal systems are adequate for the Program's needs and that issues are addressed, fixes are tested, and enhancements are scoped and worked through to release to the production environment. Other related duties will be the oversight of the annual fees, and the certification, annual training, and fee collection from the TURA Planners.
The TURA Data Manager's responsibilities will include:
Coordination between Program, Enterprise Information Office (EIO), Information Technology staff, allied outside groups (Office of Technical Assistance (OTA), Toxic Use Reduction Institute (TURI)) and the Department's Regional Offices,
Direct participation in end-user training, account administration, and related problem-solving,
Working with TURA Program staff to develop annual fees amounts and assist as needed in any billing activities,
Identify and record any system bugs and work with IT staff to resolve,
Work with Program staff to identify enhancements to the current software application and work those enhancements through to release to production.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with state and/or federal environmental programs, and an understanding of the documentation process therein,
Experience using primary MassDEP information systems, Accela, SMS, CAS, e-DEP, C&E Tracker,
Familiarity with Bureau procedures and methodologies,
Ability to maintain accurate records using MS Word, Excel, and other electronic formats,

Biologists work on deck on vessels ranging from 20 to 100 on trips roughly ranging from 7 to 14 days collecting data on fish catch and discard and incidental takes such as marine mammals, seabirds and marine turtles. After attending a 3-week paid training that be administered in person in Falmouth, MA biologists are deployed from ports throughout New England and Mid-Atlantic states. Gear types assessed include, but limited to, trawl, and gillnet.
Accommodations and meal reimbursement during in person session of training are provided. Training includes instructions on sampling protocols, gear, fisheries, fish identification, marine mammal/sea turtle identification, and safety.
This is a challenging job, and candidates must be mentally prepared to be away from home for multiple days, and must be physically able to handle heavy lifting, working odd hours, and long days in rough seas. Observing provides an excellent career in marine biology, as biologists are widely recognized as being excellent field biologists. Compensation: Biologists starting pay is $20.25/hour.
