This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS consists of a series of extraction points known as wells, interconnected via piping. The collected gas is transported using gas conveyance equipment (such as a fan or blower). Landfill gas (LFG) collected by this extraction system from the landfill's wellfield is combusted within a flare. Proper operation of the GCCS is required to comply with various State and Federal environmental regulations.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
GCCS operation and maintenance includes:
Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps (troubleshoot and determine liquid levels within liquid containment structures and or LFG collection wells).
Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials.
Complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
Develop basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations and develop the ability to work within an environmentally regulated industry.
Follow job related health and safety requirements and procedures.
Available for on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s).
III. Qualifications

- Experience using CAD to develop drawings for contaminated sediment dredging and/or soil excavation projects, including an ability to follow direction from a senior engineer with minimal continual oversight
- Experience performing slope stability modeling.

This would include experience with interpreting results from sediment cores, bathymetric surveys, etc.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Pre-Patrol Preparation
Organize records, maps, and paperwork for patrol circuits; maintain accurate documentation.
Review work sites for endangered species, sensitive habitats, and incompatible vegetation.
Field Patrol Duties
Safely patrol energy corridors on foot, identifying vegetation for pruning, removal, or protection per Client standards.
Classify prescribed work in accordance with field environment and tree condition, including use of herbicide.
Conduct Tree Risk Assessments and analyze growth rates.
Mark vegetation and prescribe clearance actions in line with Client directives and based on ISA pruning techniques and ANSI line clearance standards & principles.
Landowner & Stakeholder Engagement
Use digital tools and maps to identify property boundaries and landowner rights.
Communicate work plans to property owners, agencies, and organizations.
Obtain permissions for vegetation work from private/public landowners and agencies.
Provide professional customer service and foster positive community relations.
Vegetation Management & Compliance
Recommend sustainable vegetation management strategies using IVM principles.
Audit contractor work for compliance with Client specifications.
Investigate tree-related outages and document findings.
Address customer service and internal compliance issues.
Coordination & Safety
Coordinate non-routine work with stakeholders and contractors.
Report safety concerns, incidents, and hazards immediately.
Follow all safety protocols, including AMS Code of Safe Practices and wildfire prevention plans.
Operate vehicles safely and travel to assigned work areas.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in storm and emergency response as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
Associate or bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline or equivalent work experience (education may be required dependent on client contract)
Experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or tree-related green industry preferred.
Knowledge or practical experience in tree identification
Knowledge of common computer applications and ability to learn new programs
Valid driver's license and safe driving record
Experience with GIS software/technology as well as Microsoft Suite and an iPhone.
Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.

Working Environment

* Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
* GCCS operation and maintenance includes:
* Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
* Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
* Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
* Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps (troubleshoot and determine liquid levels within liquid containment structures and or LFG collection wells).
* Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
* Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials.

**Job Summary**
The Center for Natural Resources Management on Military Lands (CNRMML ) provides environmental, cultural, and engineering services to support military installations throughout the continental United States. Environmental services support military installation managers tasked with maintaining compliance with a variety of environmental, cultural, and natural resources-related laws, including but limited to the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, Sikes Act, and National Historic Preservation Act.
A successful **Natural Resources Support Specialist - Fort Benning** will be a college graduate with education in natural resources management, wildlife conservation or management, forestry, or related field. We are also looking for an individual with applicable knowledge and experience outside of formal education that applies to natural resources and environmental management.

**Essential Functions**
+ Prepares areas for prescribed burning by using a backpack blower and raking and/or burning around utility poles, dead trees, buildings, or other assets.
+ Assists with prescribed burning under appropriate supervision while following Ft. Benning's guidelines and procedures.
+ May assist with selecting and marking trees for sale, thinning, or disease control for designated timber stands.
+ May assist with nuisance wildlife control.
+ May collect, record, and summarize data, including those pertaining to forest inventory, threatened and endangered species, and game wildlife species.
+ May work in duded impact areas with an explosive ordinance escort.
+ Other duties as assigned.
+ Must be willing to report to work at Fort Benning, Georgia daily.
+ Must be capable and willing to do physical labor in often extreme high and low temperatures and high humidity.
+ Must be willing to work hard as part of a team.
+ Must be capable of taking directions from superiors.

CDM Smith's Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist or Geologist with a.) experience modeling contaminant transport through sediment caps and/or b.) a working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) in remediation projects combined with basic geotechnical engineering experience (significant academic coursework may suffice) related to remediation projects located anywhere within the United States.
The candidate must have demonstrated expertise working independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team on remediation projects for a variety of clients including those in the Federal and Public sector. Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for a higher grade level than what is proposed for this advertisement.
Roles and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following regarding sediment remediation projects:
- Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of modeling contaminant fate and transport through sediment caps in subaqueous systems. Experience with CapSim is preferred.
- Experience using CAD to develop drawings for contaminated sediment dredging and/or soil excavation projects, including an ability to follow direction from a senior engineer with minimal continual oversight
- Experience performing slope stability modeling.
- Experience with the development of field sampling programs and subsequent data analyses to support the development of conceptual site models, mass balances, and data-based understanding of fate and transport processes. This would include experience with interpreting results from sediment cores, bathymetric surveys, etc.
- Experience with numerical and/or desktop model development, calibration, and application.
- Experience evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assisting in the development of sediment remediation designs for large contaminated sediment sites involving multiple stakeholders.
- Serve as CDM Smith's primary interface with clients on complicated sediment tasks; this includes having the ability to assess and understand a problem and develop and communicate a technical strategy to the client.
