Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
1. GS-7: You must have completed or will complete a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in the following:
a) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum.
2. GS-9: You must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree:
a) Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. If more than 10 percent of total undergraduate credit hours are non-graded, i.e. pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit, etc. you cannot qualify based on GPA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of environmental physical science principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to carry out tasks and provide support using established procedures and methods in assigned.
2. Knowledge to perform a variety of technical tasks in support of projects assigned to higher level scientists or engineers using established technology to investigate unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned.
3. Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and other guidance to use in applying to assigned tasks in the areas of restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices.
4. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of vegetation management programs associated with OPPD rights-of-way, easements, and properties. Coordinates OPPD compliance with state and federal regulations designed to protect and conserve avian populations by reducing the risks that result from interactions with utility facilities and activities. Essential Functions
Provides support related to content area standards implementation, assessment of learning, professional learning, and instructional resources within AFNR and Nebraska FFA.
Develops, organizes, and coordinates the process to review and revise the Nebraska Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources standards, providing content area expertise to schools, ESUs, and postsecondary institutions.
Develops and facilitates professional learning experiences and resources related to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Career and Technical Education.
Provides guidance and technical assistance on selecting and implementing high-quality, standards-aligned, instructional resources (e.g., curriculum, digital and open resources, assessment resources), and develops quality assurance processes.
Conducts desk audits and on-site visits to monitor state and federal grant recipients and provide technical assistance related to the development and implementation of grants. Reviews and approves applications, amendments, and reports.
Establishes and fosters strategic partnerships and serves as liaison among state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to achieve goals of Nebraska Career & Technical Education.
Maintains regular & reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver's license and travels independently, and works in a variety of settings.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 80% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 20% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools, educational service units, and other service agencies. There is also approximately ten days of overnight travel per year.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in the field of education or related subject area, two years of successful pre K12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school, or equivalent teaching or school administration experience in another state or country, and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per §79-807.
NOTE: A Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 92 NAC 21 must be possessed by the time the candidate begins employment at the Nebraska Department of Education and an active certificate maintained while in the Education Specialist position.

Examples of such projects include roads, bridges, dams, public utilities, etc. Gathers and analyzes technical data needed to assess the environmental impacts of proposed actions on fish, wildlife, associated habitat, and public lands. Provides guidance to project proponents and consults with state and federal agencies on project impacts to listed endangered and threatened species under the Nebraska Nongame and Endangered Species Conservation Act. Represents the agency at state interagency meetings, scoping meetings, public meetings, and reviews and prepares responses to agency or public comment requests. Develops and provides training and associated materials to public and private sector users of the agency's online Conservation and Environmental Review Tool (CERT). Assists in development and administration of the CERT and provides first-contact trouble shooting to users. Performs related work as required.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, geology, biology, agronomy, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, hydrology, community and regional planning, or a related field. Experience may substitute for education or a year-for-year basis.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Knowledge of: local, state and federal environmental laws, statutes, and regulations; environmental and technical evaluation and assessment techniques; best management practices as they may apply to protection of fish and wildlife habitat; life history and ecology of Nebraska endangered and threatened species; software and databases such as Adobe, ESRI GIS, and Microsoft Suite products.
Skills to: listen to and understand information received; effectively communicate and collaborate with a multitude of personalities; creatively address challenges in species conservation; prioritize a workload based on relative importance.
Ability to: use deductive reasoning to make informed decisions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and other agency representatives with a high level of professionalism; communicate data, reports, and recommendations to individuals and groups in a technical and non-technical manner; objectively handle controversial issues; comprehend and utilize maps and construction plans; organize and analyze data to develop conclusions; present information accurately and write reports.
