What You Will Be Doing:
You will apply technical understanding of vacuum technology, scientific fundamentals, and diagnostic equipment to support research, development, and manufacturing activities across the RaSNS department. You will install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory systems while upholding safety, quality, and procedural standards. In this role, you will solve technical problems, assess system performance, and contribute to continuous improvement of workflows. You will also develop proficiency in radiation safety practices and expand your capabilities through hands-on learning, curiosity-driven investigation, and close collaboration with engineers and senior Technologists.
You Will:
Install, operate, and maintain laboratory research and development systems that support RaSNS engineering activities
Configure vacuum, cryogenic, mechanical, and analytical equipment; perform routine system checks; and identify issues requiring troubleshooting or escalation
Apply scientific reasoning and diagnostic methods to evaluate system behavior, validate test configurations, and support experimental readiness
Conduct repairs or adjustments to lab equipment under defined procedures, ensuring safety, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards
Develop working knowledge of radiation safety practices, including contamination control, monitoring techniques, and controlled-area workflows
Learn tritium handling and work to become a tritium Authorized User
Document test setups, observations, and system performance with clarity and discipline, using data to track reliability and communicate functionality
Collaborate with Engineers and senior Technologists to refine processes, improve system reliability, and advance department goals
Continuously expand your technical skills through hands-on learning, curiosity-driven problem solving, and engagement with evolving team needs
Required Skills:
• 3+ years of experience with mechanical systems, laboratory equipment, or technical workflows.
• Introductory familiarity with vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, or demonstrated aptitude for learning complex systems quickly.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures, perform repeatable tasks, and recognize when to request support.
• Willingness and ability to learn radiological materials work, including surveys, contamination control, tritium protocols, and controlled-area practices.
• Ability to operate analytical tools with guidance, capture and present data with care and attention to detail.
• Strong safety mindset and commitment to learning proper PPE use, hazard controls, and work planning.
• Comfort working in structured, procedure-driven environments and escalating uncertainties immediately.

As an Intern for the West Region Environmental Services Group at Stantec, you can expect to carry out a variety of different tasks related to water resource management projects. You will learn about career offerings within Stantec, what is needed to become a successful consulting engineer with other interns from across the nation. Every day will allow you to work on an interesting project, while expanding your knowledge as you gain field and office experience in many disciplines.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for projects involving erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.
- Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
- Drafting, computer modeling, data entry, assistance with preparation of construction plans and specifications, quality control review of client construction storm water documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of design concept plans, permit packages, work plans, tables, figures, hydraulic calculations, erosion and sediment control plans, and associated post-construction stormwater management plans, and present information for quality review.
- Assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable regulations, codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Complete other engineering/administrative duties as required.

**Pay Range:**

What You'll Do:

Conduct OHWM delineations in both marine and freshwater systems.
Prepare wetlands, streams, and Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas (FWHCA) critical areas reports for compliance with local Washington codes.
Develop regulatory compliance strategies for projects and permit applications (e.g., JARPA, SEPA, Shoreline), including use of streamlined permitting processes.
Prepare Biological Assessments to support Section 7 ESA compliance.
Support ecological restoration and mitigation planning and design.
Prepare SEPA Checklists and NEPA Categorical Exclusion documentation.

Your Mission:

What You Bring to the Table:

Your Mission:
Conduct testing, inspections, and monitoring of petroleum storage and dispensing systems (USTs, ASTs, piping, sensors, leak detectors).
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including EPA, state DEQ/DEP, and fire code requirements.
Perform annual, periodic, and post-repair compliance testing (e.g., line and tank tightness, ATG functionality, overfill protection, spill containment).
Inspect and verify the function of leak detection, interstitial monitoring, cathodic protection, and vapor recovery systems.
Prepare and submit detailed compliance reports, test results, and documentation for clients and regulatory agencies.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, including site-specific compliance logs and permit documents.
Collaborate with service technicians and contractors to identify and correct non-compliant conditions. Within one year be able to perform repairs at time of testing.
Keep up to date with changing environmental regulations, industry standards, and testing procedures (PEI, API, NFPA, etc.).
Calibrate and maintain testing equipment, ensuring traceability and reliability of results.
Participate in safety meetings and follow all company policies related to hazardous materials, confined space, and spill prevention.
What You Bring to the Table:
Possess valid UST 3 and local licenses. Within 1 year obtain a UST 1 license.
Experience performing compliance testing or inspections on petroleum storage and dispensing systems.
Familiarity with EPA UST/AST regulations, SPCC plans, and related environmental compliance programs.
Worked with or around fuel system components, such as tank monitors (e.g., Veeder-Root), sensors, sumps, and leak detection systems.
Knowledge of or certification in compliance testing procedures, such as SIR (Statistical Inventory Reconciliation), pressure testing, or cathodic protection evaluation.
Prior experience preparing regulatory documentation and test reports for internal records or government submission.
Comfortable using compliance testing equipment, including line testers, pressure gauges, conductivity meters, or LLD test kits.
Background in fieldwork or site visits, often requiring independent scheduling and time management.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve compliance deficiencies.
Strong understanding of safety protocols related to fuel systems, vapor hazards, and confined space entry.

UWBG offers day camp programs for 1st - 8th grade campers and volunteer and leadership training to high school students through the Junior Naturalist program.
Job Description: Lead and teach thematic environmental education programs for 1st - 8th grade campers in the Washington Park Arboretum, Center for Urban Horticulture, and/or Union Bay Natural Area. Our curricula integrate science, social-emotional learning, team building, art, and play. Serve as a mentor to high school volunteers and interns. Summer Naturalists will supervise, support, and lead activities in individual and team-teaching roles during the regular camp day and supervise and provide activities during after care. Shifts will vary each week with the earliest starting at 7:30am and the latest ending at 5:15pm with all staff working 8 hours per business day when camp is in session.
Dates: Training is held in mid-June with camp programs running from late June through late August.
General Duties: Plan, prepare, and teach age- and theme- appropriate lessons, activities, and games. Utilize the Washington Park Arboretum, Center for Urban Horticulture, and Union Bay Natural Area to create fun and dynamic educational and recreational experiences for campers.
Essential Tasks:
* Prepare and facilitate thematic, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate experiences for groups of 1st - 8th grade campers using prepared curriculum and other UW Botanic Gardens Youth and Family educational resources
* Lead programs in an outdoor setting in all kinds of weather
* Ensure safety and well-being of program participants, including adhering to required health and safety precautions
* Foster a fun and educational atmosphere
* Support and guide youth in their interpersonal and social-emotional development
* Prepare, clean, and put away materials for programs.

We are seeking an as-needed, Archaeologist III-IV for our Seattle office. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with existing Dudek staff to help with the technical oversight of the cultural resources team and help manage and implement diverse cultural resources projects. Direct experience working in Washington and Oregon is a must and experience in the rest of the Pacific Northwest (Idaho, western Montana, and Alaska) is preferred. Technical expertise in an anthropological field is also preferred, as well as the ability to travel and work outside of the local area, if required.
Duties and Responsibilities
The applicant will be expected to assist the cultural resources team with senior review of technical documents and mentorship of junior staff.
The applicant will also be expected to implement and manage from start to finish all aspects of small-, medium-, and large-sized projects, including surveys, subsurface explorations, significance testing, mitigation data recovery investigations, and archeological monitoring, responsibilities of which include:
knowing and applying local, state, and federal regulations for cultural resources
preparing research designs, scopes of work/technical approaches, schedules preparation, and permit applications,
coordinating with our project administrators and accountants to set up, organize, and manage projects according to the scope of work,
coordinating with clients, Native American tribes, and agency staff and managing expectations for each project,
coordinating within Dudek to ensure the project is staffed appropriately,

reviewing the field crew's daily logs and other field forms, notes, and collected GIS data for quality control and to ensure fieldwork continues to meet contractual obligations and state and federal standards for cultural resources investigations,

Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree (Master's or Doctoral degree in archaeology or anthropology)

Knowledge of the history, archaeology, and ethnography of Oregon, Washington, and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest
A working knowledge of local (Seattle/Puget Sound), state (Washington and Oregon), and federal cultural resources regulations and guidelines
Supervisory and management experience in archaeological monitoring, survey, and excavation projects in Washington and Oregon, and experience completing projects for a variety of client types: private, local governments, state and federal agencies
Excellent technical writing skills (writing samples will be requested)
Willingness to travel to a project location for several consecutive days
