AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join our Fort Lauderdale Remediation team. You will work on a diverse range of projects delivering remediation system solutions to our key clients.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team. In addition, the successful candidate will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.
The role requires a strong mechanical and safety aptitude, and the candidate must have experience working with plumbing, electrical, and general construction related trades. Duties include (but will not be limited to) equipment maintenance coordination, remediation system maintenance, and environmental sampling activities. Although this is a field position that involves significant equipment maintenance and construction related activities, there will be direct interaction with clients and the candidate must have experience communicating with clients on a professional level.
This position will involve travel throughout Central and South Florida on a regular basis.
The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to the following:
Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
Effective interaction with internal and external clients

NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) has an immediate need for an experienced Environmental Specialist who will work closely with NEET Operations supporting environmental compliance.
Primary accountabilities include managing operational permit compliance tasks, assisting with onboarding new assets and integrating into operations, troubleshooting and developing strategies for environmental non-compliance issues, conducting operational audits, developing and delivering environmental trainings, and ensuring operational compliance tasks are completed (such as EPCRA Tier II reporting, SPCC compliance, waste management, wildlife reporting, and agency inspections).

Perform a variety of field and technical tasks associated with the phases of environmental site investigation and remediation under the direction of the project manager.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Perform groundwater sampling collection at various sites pursuant to government regulations and AET Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs operation and maintenance of remedial treatment systems to include monthly scheduled visits, system restarts, trouble shooting for system failures and maintenance/repair of system components.
May assist in geological site investigations including groundwater, soil, sediment and surface water sampling under the direction of the project manager.
Conducts field oversight of drilling subcontractors including oversight of well installation, soil/groundwater sampling and testing.
Assists with physical duties associated with excavations, remediation system installations, remediation system modifications, and site restoration.
Coordinates sample packing and shipping to laboratory subcontractor.
May operate heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, and engage in moderate to heavy lifting.
Helps ensure that all activities meet or exceed the customer's expectations, Company standards, and all applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities:
Conduct onsite evaluations to assess and categorize hazardous waste materials.
Safely pack and segregate different types of hazardous chemicals and waste for transportation and disposal.
Prepare and label containers according to regulatory requirements and company policies.
Document and maintain accurate records of waste disposal activities, including manifests and shipping documents.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies regarding waste management processes.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to hazardous waste handling and transportation.
Monitor and maintain inventory of waste materials and supplies needed for waste-handling activities.
Proper use of PPE, safe handling of chemicals, etc.
Oversee the physical relocation of hazardous materials, including packing, loading, transportation, and unloading (Lab Moves)
Preparing truck with necessary supplies/tools for job
Segregating chemicals by hazard class & regulations
Creating paperwork (manifests, labels, etc.) onsite
Containerizing waste for shipment
Loading & securing trucks according to DOT requirements
Placarding trucks (if needed)
Offloading waste back at the Davie facility
Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations involving hazardous materials and ability to be on ER team and rotational schedule.
Safe operation of Triumvirate commercial vehicle (Class B, Box Trucks) while transporting hazardous materials.
Not a requirement but encouraged. Triumvirate will pay for them to get their CDL and there is a pay bump that comes with getting your CDL.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous-waste industry, or relevant military experience
Ability to work as a member of a team as well as individually
Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional exchanges of information
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies to achieve positive outcomes

Valid US driver's license
