HMG is seeking a reliable and experienced Enviromental Technician. The EnvironmentalTechnician will primarily handle hazardous waste pickups, processing of hazardous waste, shipment of wastes, spill responses and pump truck operations for wastes or septic. Additional duties include performing inspections and documenting results according to Navy requirements. This position has a high degree of compliance requirements according WA State Dangerous Waste, EPA Federal rules, and Navy requirements.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Perform environmental sampling, field testing, and documentation for wastewater, stormwater, hazardous materials, and regulated waste programs.
Manage hazardous waste collection, packaging, labeling, and shipment per Navy, Federal, State, and DOT regulations.
Conduct hazardous waste pickups, bulking, consolidation, and transportation to accumulation sites.
Maintain logs, operating records, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws and Navy standards.
Inspect and maintain tools, trucks, and equipment used in waste handling operations.
Perform industrial and environmental services including tank cleaning, pressure washing, hazmat cleanup, and pump truck operations.
Conduct facility inspections for hazardous waste storage, stormwater monitoring, and spill prevention compliance.
Participate in spill response, cleanup, and Facility Response Team (FRT) activities; maintain HAZWOPER and FRT credentials.
Determine and wear appropriate PPE for hazardous waste and spill response tasks, including respirators and protective suits.
Assist customers in setting up compliant waste storage areas and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
Record and close out work orders in Maximo with accurate and detailed entries.
Identify trends or issues in environmental documentation and recommend corrective actions.
Participate in required safety and environmental compliance training.
Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma/GED is .
0- 3 years' experience in Environmental Field
First Aid/CPR Certification.
OSHA series training. S
Strong maintenance background preferred.
Familiarity with military equipment and facilities.

* Provide engineering support for projects involving erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. This role serves as a technical lead for wetland and stream delineations and wildlife assessments, manages environmental projects and tasks, and prepares environmental permit applications for public and private clients. You will serve as a primary liaison with federal, state, and local agencies on environmental permitting and compliance matters, and lead impact analyses to inform project design and regulatory compliance. Project work includes fish passage restoration, transportation, third-party peer reviews, linear utilities, parks and trails, and policy analysis. What You'll Do:
Manage environmental tasks and projects in freshwater and shoreline environments.
Lead wetland and stream OHWM delineations using the USACE 1987 Manual and applicable Regional Supplements, complete wetland ratings and functional assessments, and prepare associated reports.
Conduct OHWM delineations in both marine and freshwater systems.
Prepare wetlands, streams, and Fish and Wildlife Habitat Conservation Areas (FWHCA) critical areas reports for compliance with local Washington codes.
Develop regulatory compliance strategies for projects and permit applications (e.g., JARPA, SEPA, Shoreline), including use of streamlined permitting processes.
Prepare Biological Assessments to support Section 7 ESA compliance.
Support ecological restoration and mitigation planning and design.
Prepare SEPA Checklists and NEPA Categorical Exclusion documentation.
Provide technical expertise in aquatic and terrestrial wildlife ecology, including fieldwork for wildlife habitat assessments and report preparation. This may include stream habitat monitoring, fish passage assessments, water quality analysis, impact analyses, and restoration design.
Lead post-construction performance monitoring for fish passage, wetlands, and vegetation, and prepare annual monitoring reports.
What You Bring:
Bachelor s degree in Biology, Wildlife or Fisheries, Ecology, or a related field; Master s degree preferred.
Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification preferred.
5-10 years of professional experience in wetlands, including working knowledge of salmonid ecology in freshwater and estuarine environments in the Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound region. Time spent in a Master s degree program may be included toward total experience.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects with concurrent deadlines.
Professional experience supporting aquatic restoration projects, including design, implementation, and performance monitoring.
Strong understanding of federal and Washington State regulatory compliance processes, including preparation of JARPAs for USACE and WDFW permitting.

SDOT Urban Forestry is looking for a Senior Forester (Civil Engineering Specialist, Sr.) to join the team and do just that! In this critical role you will supervise, review, approve, and inspect Urban Forestry permits for complex private development and right-of-way improvement projects to ensure street trees meet municipal code requirements and city design standards to grow Seattle's tree canopy, protect public safety, and prevent conflicts with city-owned infrastructure.
* Review plans and development proposals for impacts related to utilities, traffic, transportation, and street improvements.
* Coordinate and cooperate with permit applicants and other agencies, departments, divisions, and private utilities involved in or affected by project(s).
* Recommend permit revisions and requirements to mitigate negative impacts of development on street trees and ensure plans meet Seattle Municipal Code requirements and City of Seattle design standards.
* Ensure compliance with terms of permits authorizing development and construction projects related to street trees and landscapes in the right-of-way.
* Serve as subject-matter expert for soil protection, environmentally critical areas, tree selection, and urban forestry elements of projects.
* Respond to inquiries from the public and other departments about the process, requirements, and procedures of the development process and investigate and resolve complaints from the public.
* Perform regular site walk-throughs for projects in construction to assess the conditions of existing trees, inspect tree protection, and provide oversight of pruning (root and canopy) to conform with ANSI A300 standards.
* Determine the appraised value of existing street trees using the current editing of the Guide for Establishing Values of Trees and Other Plants prepared by the Council of Tree and Landscape Appraisers.
* Perform contract administration activities including reviewing change orders and responding to submittals; preparing field notes; collecting material samples; attending final walkthroughs; and compiling or auditing as-built records.
Education:
* An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or two years of college level coursework in engineering and construction technology or related fields
Experience:
* Requires four (4) years of related civil engineering or similar experience
OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.
License, Certification:
* Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility may be required
Though not requirements, strong candidates will have some of the following experience or are able to describe comparable experience:
* Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or Environmental Science or two years of college level coursework OR a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background related to the duties of this position
* Experience evaluating tree health, reviewing tree protection BMPs, and making pruning recommendations (root pruning and canopy pruning)
* Experience reviewing construction drawings, details, and specifications
* Ability to manage a variety of tasks on multiple projects to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and the flexibility to change priorities when necessary
* Ability to communicate and work effectively within a multi-cultural workforce serving a diverse customer base

* ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
* Familiarity with applicable codes and standards related to Seattle trees (Seattle Municipal Code, Seattle Standard Specifications, Seattle Standard Plans, SDOT Street Tree Manual)

Work Environment / Physical Demands:
* Work is typically performed in a hybrid work environment in which a minimum of 3 days of work is completed in a City office, and 2 days of work is completed remotely in a regular 40-hour work week
* Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances and work in or near construction sites.
* May be required to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods of time.
