Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Biologist to join its collaborative team in Bakersfield, CA. This individual will serve a key function in providing wetland delineations, rare plant surveys, wildlife surveys, restoration monitoring, collecting field data and samples; monitoring construction sites, and compiling data and preparing reports. Job Responsibilities
* Assist with plant and wildlife surveys for habitat assessments, special-status species, and other project requirements;
* Assist with wetland delineations, jurisdictional determinations, and other aquatic resource surveys using current agency protocols, regionally specific methods, restoration monitoring for ongoing projects and other guidance;
* Provide biological monitoring and oversight for construction projects, restoration implementation, and restoration maintenance;
* Research regionally-sensitive natural resources, survey requirements, and reporting needs;
* Assist with development of environmental permitting packages using data collected in the field by Langan or subcontractors;

ESA is looking for a part-time fisheries biologist to join our Fish and Aquatic Sciences team in Northern California. This person has extensive experience implementing fisheries and aquatic science field studies. This position will include serving as a variable part-time professional who helps implement specialized fisheries and aquatic field investigations, including fish population monitoring, conducting water quality and hydrologic monitoring, and completing compliance monitoring for terrestrial and aquatic species. Minimum five years of professional experience required with experience operating and trailering boats, using a wide range of fish and water quality sampling gear, and performing light maintenance on sampling gear and equipment.

* Identifies areas of non-compliance and negotiates resolutions with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS); briefs the Bay-Delta Office Area Manager, Regional Director, and Commissioner's Office; recommends corrective actions; and documents RPM modifications.
* Negotiates and documents modifications to NMFS and USFWS Biological Opinions (BiOps) related to RPM implementation and coordinates execution with other Area Offices and State partners.
* Coordinates RPM implementation with Reclamation programs and initiatives including Collaborative Science and Adaptive Management Program (CSAMP), Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA), and EcoRestore.
* Serves as Reclamation's primary point of contact to integrate RPM actions with State and County initiatives, including flood protection, agriculture, recreation, refuges, and fishing and hunting organizations, ensuring efforts are complementary and non-adverse.
* Oversees ESA compliance processes, including preparation of environmental impact statements and reports, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and program directives.
* Coordinates preparation, review, and tracking of planning and environmental documents to meet established schedules; works closely with Federal, State, and local agencies and leadership.
* Collaborates with Federal and State agencies including USFWS, NMFS, EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, State Water Resources Control Board, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Department of Water Resources.
* Analyzes complex, interrelated technical data and recommends overall plans of development, problem resolution strategies, and future program direction while ensuring technical adequacy.

Biological Sciences Discipline, GS-0401
A. Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

B. Combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major (24 semester hours), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Under general supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) in the Feed Inspection Program, the Environmental Scientist will sample and analyze results of commercial feed and livestock drugs. The incumbent will independently conduct environmental impact studies related to feed and food safety, take regulatory actions, conduct investigations and inspections, and other duties related to the enforcement of California laws governing the distribution of feed and livestock drugs.
* Sample, analyze, and interpret results of feed and livestock drugs for product quality, human and animal food safety, and regulatory compliance, including those containing medically important antimicrobial drugs.
* Evaluate and determine the Feed and Livestock Drugs licensee's compliance with California and United States Food and Drug Administration's laws and regulations and they apply to commercial feed and livestock drugs.
* Review firms Standard Operating Procedures, records, and interview management and staff of manufacturing facilities and document any deviations from federal and state regulations.
* Perform inspections as part of CDFA's contract with the Food and Drug Administration.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are to perform approximately 75% outdoors and 25% indoors. The primary workstation will be the incumbent's home office, which is equipped with a desk, chair, computer with various software programs, and a multifunction print/scan/copy machine.
The employee's alternate workstation is located indoors at 1320 E Shaw, Suite 130, Fresno CA 93710. When in the office, the duties of this position are performed indoors in a cubicle environment. Description Your role at GEI. This entry-level, casual on call, archaeology position will assist on various projects throughout the midwestern US and occasionally other parts of the US. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
With assistance from Cultural Resources Group Leader, pursue new clients and projects.
Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports.
Assist with project management tasks and manage small projects.
Plan and lead the implementation of archaeological surveys, site recordations, and site excavations (evaluations and data recovery).
Supervise field crews.
Prepare cultural resources reports in support of Section 106 compliance and state regulations.
Coordinate with federal, state, and/or local agencies to support projects.
Assist agencies and other clients with Native American coordination.
Prepare National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) cultural resources sections.
Interact with clients and attend client and project meetings.
Participate actively in trade organizations and conferences, deliver presentations, and write technical papers.
This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's or Doctorate degree in Archaeology or closely related field.
Registered Professional Archaeologist.
8 years of archaeological consulting or agency experience in midwestern US.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience independently preparing complex technical documents for various cultural resources projects.
Ability to manage and organize several projects at the same time.
Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
Candidates must also be knowledgeable of federal cultural resources regulations and midwestern US state regulations.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
