We are seeking an EnvironmentalTechnician to support stormwater sampling work. As the primary point of contact in Indianapolis, the technician will be responsible for traveling to various industrial facilities to collect stormwater samples, conduct inspections, and perform laboratory tests. While initial training will be provided, the majority of the work will be performed independently. This role requires flexibility for out-of-state and overnight travel, and the ability to work on-call, primarily during rainfall. The position is anticipated to be part-time, approximately 30 hours per week, with work occurring quarterly and the potential for involvement in other projects.
Responsibilities
* Collect stormwater samples from industrial facilities for inspection and/or testing.
* Submit results and deliver samples to the lab.
* Communicate with the data analyst in real-time via a smartphone application while collecting samples.
* Travel occasionally to other states within the region and take overnight trips.
* Work alongside Project Managers to gain experience in Industrial Hygiene, Remediation, EH&S, or Due Diligence teams.

Work Environment
This role involves working at Amazon facilities across the region, including Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and more. The position typically involves 30 hours of work each week, with travel to sites depending on rainfall. The technician will work independently at these sites and coordinate with the Amazon facility manager. A company laptop and rental vehicle will be provided, with the option to use a personal vehicle and receive mileage reimbursement. Supplies for testing can be picked up daily or stocked in the vehicle. Opportunities to shadow and assist in different departments, such as Industrial Hygiene and Remediation, may be available. The ultimate goal is to transition the individual into a full-time role after the contract period.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The EnvironmentalTechnician will primarily be responsible for helping and assisting to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and conservation regulations and standards and to assist IAA in meeting and exceeding its environmental policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure proper operation of deicing control systems.
* Perform routine maintenance of environmental control equipment and systems.
* Collaborate with other airport departments to integrate environmental considerations into maintenance practices.
* Assist in the management of the IAA's storm water and deicing control systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Perform and maintain working knowledge of operating, maintenance activities and environmental best practices relevant to IAA's storm water deicing control facilities.
* Coordination as needed with IAA Departments on matters relating to the Conservation Management Area, storm water and deicing system, wildlife, and vegetation for IAA properties.
* Cut grass, control weeds and remove trees.
* Empty all facility trash containers.
* Report any unusual security situations.
* Wash all facilities equipment.
* Maintain landscaped areas.
* Perform activities associated with environmental regulatory compliance by IAA, including permit application and implementation. Permits such as Title V air permit, Industrial Pretreatment Permit, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Permits and any other city, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements.
* Conduct regular inspections of airport facilities to identify and address environmental concerns.
* Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and environmental compliance efforts.
* Proactively work to avoid environmental releases on IAA properties and to remediate existing contamination sites promptly and effectively.
* Performs any other functions assigned by Director, Environmental and Sustainability or Manager, Environmental Operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school; or successful completion of a high school equivalency exam
* Two (2) years of environmental, wastewater operator and/or maintenance experience within the public and private sectors
* Knowledge and proper use of tools and equipment used in maintenance and construction
* Prior experience in operating light duty equipment and vehicles.
* Ability to perform all the physical and cognitive tasks outlined in the job description

This role:
The Microbiology Technician is an entry-level position in the Microbiology lab. This position works independently to perform routine sampling and process samples in support of the Microbiology department. This position reports to a Microbiology Supervisor.
The second shift is Monday through Thursday 1:00p-11:00p
The responsibilities:
Samples controlled environments per the sampling Master Plan utilizing aseptic technique.
Documents and processes samples in a Laboratory environment.

Accurately distinguishes and counts microbial recoveries (mold and bacteria)
