This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS consists of a series of extraction points known as wells, interconnected via piping. The collected gas is transported using gas conveyance equipment (such as a fan or blower). Landfill gas (LFG) collected by this extraction system from the landfill's wellfield is combusted within a flare. Proper operation of the GCCS is required to comply with various State and Federal environmental regulations.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
GCCS operation and maintenance includes:
Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps (troubleshoot and determine liquid levels within liquid containment structures and or LFG collection wells).
Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
Use Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials.
Complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
Develop basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations and develop the ability to work within an environmentally regulated industry.
Follow job related health and safety requirements and procedures.
Available for on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s).

Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on work environments
Working knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems
Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or a related field
Experience working with Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) piping and components
Experience using data logging systems
Mechanical aptitude or prior experience in mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting systems with pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment
Fundamental knowledge of computer data entry and interpretation
Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision

The Department of Natural Sciences, which houses the biology, chemistry, environmental science, neuroscience, and physics faculty for Pitzer and Scripps Colleges (two of the five undergraduate-only Claremont Colleges), seeks to hire a broadly trained Earth scientist who studies the dynamics of Earth's surface and near-surface environments. We seek an environmentally focused Earth-scientist to complement existing departmental expertise in paleoclimatology, soil geomorphology, ecology, and atmospheric chemistry.
Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and development of a vibrant research program that fully engages undergraduate students. The tenure-track appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level and begin in July 2026.
Potential areas of specialization include but are not limited to: atmospheric sciences, biogeochemistry, biogeomorphology, fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, oceanography, quaternary geology, stable isotope geochemistry, and sustainable agriculture. We are also interested in applicants whose research tools would contribute to department strengths and growing activity in the areas of computational/data science, (isotope) geochemistry, GIS, and/or remote sensing, however, we prefer candidates for whom such expertise is not a sole focus. Teaching responsibilities include participation in an introductory environmental science course integrating foundational concepts in biology, chemistry, geology, and ecology; an introductory earth science course integrating fundamentals of plate tectonics, rock composition, geologic time, and environmental change; and one or more upper-division course(s) in an area of the candidate's expertise. The successful candidate will join a vibrant intercollegiate (5 College) environmental curriculum and a community of other new faculty in climate-related fields. We particularly seek candidates who can build interdisciplinary connections with colleagues across the liberal arts curriculum.
A Ph.D. and a record of scholarly publication are required. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
The salary for this position will range from $100,000-$110,000 and will be set based on experience.

As our new Environmental Compliance Technician, you will:
* Monitor, inspect, investigate, and ensure compliance with City and mandated environmental health and safety laws, rules, and regulations, and policies for Storm Water and Pretreatment Programs.
* Schedule and conduct field tests; collect samples and take readings or measurement of water and other materials.
* Respond to hazmat incidents and monitors cleanup.
* Clean and repairs analytical and testing equipment.
* Prepare written inspection reports, noncompliance letters, enforcement action letters and reports; maintain inspection documentation and records as required in accordance with established City records management procedures.

Tetra Tech Solid Waste West (SWW) is seeking an Environmental Field Technician. We are expanding our team and looking for hardworking and capable individuals. Our technicians receive hands on practical experience and have a direct impact on our environmental projects. Qualifications:

* Work in extreme (hot and cold) weather conditions safely
* Lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a non-consistent basis
* Pass a company paid, baseline health physical and drug screening, as required

* Knowledge of professional environmental physical scientific principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively participate in project development, execution, training, and assistance in assigned projects (see Environmental Program Checklist).
* Knowledge to troubleshoot routine environmental physical science problems requiring investigation of unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned projects (see Environmental Program Checklist).
* Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention and/or integration principles and practices.

Education & Requirements
* Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience required
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* In lieu of a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required
Key Qualifications
* Must have a valid California Driver's license and valid automobile insurance. Must qualify and maintain driving record to drive company vehicles based on IEHP insurance standards of no more than three (3) points
