DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL SCIENCES PITZER AND SCRIPPS COLLEGES The Department of Natural Sciences, which houses the biology, chemistry, environmental science, neuroscience, and physics faculty for Pitzer and Scripps Colleges (two of the five undergraduate-only Claremont Colleges), seeks to hire a broadly trained Earth scientist who studies the dynamics of Earth's surface and near-surface environments. We seek an environmentally focused Earth-scientist to complement existing departmental expertise in paleoclimatology, soil geomorphology, ecology, and atmospheric chemistry. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and development of a vibrant research program that fully engages undergraduate students. The tenure-track appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level and begin in July 2026. Potential areas of specialization include but are not limited to: atmospheric sciences, biogeochemistry, biogeomorphology, fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, oceanography, quaternary geology, stable isotope geochemistry, and sustainable agriculture. The successful candidate will join a vibrant intercollegiate (5 College) environmental curriculum and a community of other new faculty in climate-related fields.
