Summary Position Highlights: The Environmental Services Specialty Technician's primary responsibility is disinfecting Specialty areas such as Infusion Pharmacy, Sterile Processing, Operating Rooms, Procedure Rooms, Cell Therapy. As part of the Spill Response Team, deactivates and decontaminates chemotherapy and other hazardous agent spills. Responsible for reducing the spread of bacteria and infection as well as providing an environment that appears clean, fresh, and polished. This position performs a variety of duties that support the department in maintaining a clean environment for patients and staff. This includes cleaning and disinfecting other areas as needed. Responsibilities: * Clean spills containing blood or other potentially infectious material using established infection control, safety, and ES departmental procedures. * Occasionally may have to work at off-site locations. * Follow departmental and other regulatory standards regarding all cleaning policies and procedures (using proper disinfectants, labeling chemical bottles, keeping an organized cart, etc.) * Perform all essential functions following established safety and infection control requirements (perform hand hygiene, wear PPE, etc.) * Safely uses, dilutes, and stores chemicals and cleaning materials. * Complete working knowledge of different types of hazardous materials (chemotherapy, pharmaceutical, bio-hazardous, sharps, pathological, microbiological, and bodily fluids) and how to properly handle and dispose. * Proper operation of cleaning equipment - Properly clean and disinfect all types of areas including clinical inpatient/outpatient (patient rooms, exam rooms, nurse stations, etc.), support/common areas, offices, labs, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, corridors, external grounds, etc. Credentials and Qualifications: * No education required. * Minimum two (2) years of Healthcare Janitorial / Environmental Services experience, including 6 months applying proficient knowledge of a specialty area (for example, including terminal cleaners), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral/written form (for the safety of our patients and staff in an emergency situation). * For internal candidates only (Average quality score of 90% in previous 12 months and successful completion of all competencies over a rolling 12-month period.) * Valid FL Driver's License. These assessments are typically 1-2 days in duration with typical team sizes ranging from 2 to 5 depending on the size of the assessment. Work activities will include sorting through solid waste using hand tools to segregate waste items by type for the purpose of assessing various types of waste including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, food waste and regulated materials. Assisting with the separation of the waste, weighing and inventorying items for the purpose of data analysis and reporting. Work requires the ability to bend and lift 30 pounds or less, willingness to work in Tyvek safety suits, wear required safety equipment, and ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours. This position is fully remote but will require travel to various project sites. Applicants should enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. This position will afford an excellent opportunity for the individual to expand their experience and knowledge base in federal and state environmental regulations and methodologies in primarily in Ohio, as well as the possibility of assisting with projects in West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will serve as a field lead to perform, with minimal supervision, various assignments including, but not limited to those listed below. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performing field monitoring of erosion and sediment (E&S) controls on various types of construction Projects (linear and site-based) while working independently. Review and understand specifications, permits, and permit conditions as well as E&S control and stormwater plans associated with both site and linear construction Projects. Prepare and review periodic monitoring reports based upon field observations. Reports may be submitted via paper report or electronically as required. Assist with the preparation of environmental reports, permit applications, and closeout requests such as wetland and stream delineation reports, erosion and sediment control plans, and sound studies. Agree and adhere to the Health and Safety requirements of GAI Consultants and GAI's clients. Maintain QA/QC standards and adhere to the Quality Management System procedures of GAI Consultants and the quality procedures of GAI's clients. Qualifications Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical writing ability. Ability to utilize electronic location devices such as a GPS or a GPS enabled device to collect data tied to a Project location. Candidate must be proficient in using Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, and MS Office applications and be familiar with report, database, and form completion through both MS Word applications (e.g., Access, SQL) and online programs. A valid driver's license along with ability pass required screening to drive a GAI vehicle. Must be flexible. Travel will be expected as part of this position. Ability to drive distances of potentially 4-6+ hours round trip and with occasional overnight stays out of town being required. Preferred: (Not required, but candidates that demonstrate these qualifications will be given preference) Minimum of an Associates (A.S.) degree from an accredited college with an engineering/environmental/science focus. Two to four years of demonstrated experience in field monitoring. Consideration will be given to candidates that can specifically show E&S control monitoring or similar experience. Consideration will be given to candidates that can demonstrate experience and comprehension of E&S control BMP concepts, designs, and maintenance requirements. Past experience working with an environmental review agency (e.g. state or local conservation district) either for the agency or with the agency as a consultant or owner. Experience in SWPPP, NPDES Permit Application and/or Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Plan Development. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or GIS (ArcGIS). Experience in environmental compliance such as air compliance and/or spill response planning a plus. Knowledge of Section 401/404 permitting, stream and wetland surveys, delineation techniques, and permitting. Travel 75%, Travel to project sites. Overnight stays. The position supports PUC/PSC approvals, advises on conditions tied to certificates, and prepares assets for operational handoff. Senior specialists focus on strategy and negotiation, while mid-level specialists handle drafting, data compilation, and process execution.
