The Department of Earth Sciences at The College of Wooster invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning August, 2026, pending final administrative approval. We are seeking candidates in the broad fields of earth systems and climate science. We are open to a wide array of geoscience disciplines, including ocean-atmosphere interactions, meteorology, climate modeling, fluids in Earth systems, glaciology, hydrology, and others. The ability to teach data- and GIS-based courses is required. We value candidates who can contribute to interdisciplinary programs connected with the Earth Sciences, including Statistical & Data Sciences, Climate Studies, and Urban Studies.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for teaching and mentoring. The teaching load is 5.5 courses per year, which includes credited mentoring of Senior Independent Study (I.S.) projects. We place a strong emphasis on experiential learning and encourage faculty to develop and maintain a robust research agenda to engage and support student Independent Studies and contribute to their fields in the geosciences. The department maintains internal funds and analytical facilities to support student-faculty research along with a full-time technician who provides logistical support. Courses in the ESCI department attract a particularly diverse group of students, and the department is highly engaged in the College's STEM success initiative, with our faculty regularly contributing to these programs. All tenure-track faculty are expected to teach in the college's First-Year Seminar program on a regular rotation. This position requires a Ph.D. or ABD in Earth Sciences or a related field.

Job Summary/Description:
