In this role you will perform a number of routine tasks following set procedures in the field of Environmental Science. Some problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude are required. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Monitoring: Perform a wide variety of field duties for environmental projects including inspection, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of remediation/mitigation systems, water level measurement, and contractor oversight. Environmental Sampling: Conduct sampling and monitoring for various media and constituents of concern by following established procedures. Fieldwork: Travel to perform field work at project sites (approximately 90% field, 10% office). Overnight travel is expected up to 50% of the time, while other project sites are local. There are opportunities for regional travel or to support environmental emergencies/emergency responses (ER). Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reside near our St. Paul, Minnesota office. Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow a range of mandatory work instructions (including use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others. Data Collection and Analysis: Perform basic data entry tasks, including data verification. Technical Troubleshooting: Perform basic tasks in technical troubleshooting, such as identifying evident technical issues with equipment and assisting in basic diagnostic actions. Your Key Responsibilities Perform beryllium dust and sandblast dust cleaning using HEPA vacuums and manual wiping as part of daily cleaning procedures in an industrial setting five evening shifts per week. Change Torit filters as needed. Maintain PPE and equipment at the facility and communicate with the Bay west project manager and client project manager as needs arise. Complete daily work completed checklists. Conduct hazardous waste operations and clean-up as requested. Assist with daytime industrial services and emergency response projects, including tank cleanings, water blasting, facility decontaminations and cleanings on an as needed basis Prepare daily diaries, reports, field sketches, post-incident closure reports of all project activity to ensure records are accurate and complete. Effectively communicate observations or concerns regarding health, safety, or work environment conditions to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor to ensure clear understanding and appropriate action. Write conservation plans and provide technical assistance to help landowners implement this voluntary conservation program. Assist partners with all phases of the Reinvest in MN (RIM) conservation easement program, including applications, conservation plans, outreach, title work, construction, and reimbursement. Help landowners identify plants and habitat on their property and guide them in improving those habitats for wildlife utilizing voluntary conservation programs from USDA NRCS, PF, BWSR and other local and state programs.
