The Anastassiou Laboratory is affiliated with the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology, the Center of Neural Sciences and Medicine and the Regenerative Medicine Institute. The lab team studies how the molecular and cellular composition of neurons translates to their phenotype and how these properties combine in brain circuits to produce function or, in the case of disease, dysfunction.
The Project Scientist works independently and in cooperation with the Principal Investigator to make significant and creative contributions to a research or creative project in any academic field. The position may be an ongoing member of a research team or may be employed for a limited period of time to contribute high-level skills to a specific research program. This role is not required to carry out independent research or to develop an independent research reputation and do not have teaching responsibilities. Ordinarily, this position will carry out research or creative programs as well as administration of day-to-day lab operations with supervision by a member of the Professorial Series.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications, and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
May serve as PI for certain grants.
Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
Develops, adapts and implements new techniques and protocols.
Assists in lab experiments, analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.
May lead or train Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows.
Appointees on an academic trajectory will be encouraged to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
IDEAL CANDIDATES will have an intimate understanding of oil and gas field operations (experience working in an O&G facility would be a definite asset) and have experience in performing hydrocarbon fugitive emission and /or leak detection projects. Our US offices are located in Denver, CO, Houston, TX and Pittsburgh, PA; however, this opportunity is a 100% field position and will require extensive travel throughout the USA. This position will focus on our clients in the USA (EPA Subpart VV, VVa, KKK, OOOO, OOOOa, and W compliance) but may also require occasional travel to work on projects in Canada or other international locations. The FE Technician will report to the FE Team Lead. The successful candidate will be required to take a number of safety training courses prior to initiating any field activities (CPR/1St Aid, H2S Alive, WHIMIS/TDG, Fall Protection etc.). Spring Seasonal Naturalist Position
We are looking for educated, professional and energetic people for our academic naturalist seasonal position. Come to Orange County, CA and help us mold young minds and have fun too as we teach common core science standards to students. Our coverage in science goes over the field of life science, physical science and earth science. These include conducting experiments, using our telescopes, digging in our garden and excavating in the Lucy Lou Mine. Also give them a strong appreciation of the outdoors by facilitating hiking, archery, zip lining, rock climbing and even our challenge course. All training is provided and paid for. before schools arrive. Staff is required to work 5 full days a week (normally Mon.-Fri.). Chaperoning at night is a requirement as well.
We are looking for staff to join our team through June. The starting pay is $400/ week. The position amenities includes dorm style housing (rent free), a common room with two refrigerators, WiFi, satellite TV and kitchenette. All meals provided to students will be provided to naturalists. This is a residential camp position.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a key member of the LDAR team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Conduct routine leak inspections of industrial piping and tank components using a backpack-mounted organic vapor meter
Maintain a basic understanding of air quality rules and regulations
Maintain good public relations with clients
Report all environmental and safety issues to client and Regional Manager
Maintain all Company equipment in good condition
Remain current on all Montrose and client safety training and policies

This 210-acre outdoor education center, owned and operated by the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America, is located in Orange, California and accessible through Irvine Regional Park. The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center (IROEC) features half-day through five-day academic and recreational programming. Our hands-on approach to outdoor education allows participants to explore the outdoors and science while developing creativity, leadership skills and a respect for the environment.
Job Description
Spring Seasonal Naturalist Position
We are looking for educated, professional and energetic people for our academic naturalist seasonal position. Come to Orange County, CA and help us mold young minds and have fun too as we teach common core science standards to students. Our coverage in science goes over the field of life science, physical science and earth science. These include conducting experiments, using our telescopes, digging in our garden and excavating in the Lucy Lou Mine. Also give them a strong appreciation of the outdoors by facilitating hiking, archery, zip lining, rock climbing and even our challenge course. All training is provided and paid for. before schools arrive. Staff is required to work 5 full days a week (normally Mon.-Fri.). Chaperoning at night is a requirement as well.
We are looking for staff to join our team through June. The starting pay is $400/ week. The position amenities includes dorm style housing (rent free), a common room with two refrigerators, WiFi, satellite TV and kitchenette. All meals provided to students will be provided to naturalists. This is a residential camp position.
Qualifications
2-4 Year Degree
Need to be available for
February 20th through June 9th
Experience teaching (recommended but not required)
Experience with youth (recommended but not required)
Patience and flexibility (long hours and hard work)
The ability to work and live with different personalities
Enjoy working outdoors.

About the Role
The Project Scientist works independently and in cooperation with the Principal Investigator to make significant and creative contributions to a research or creative project in any academic field. The incumbent may be an ongoing member of a research team or may be employed for a limited period of time to contribute high-level skills to a specific research program. This role is not required to carry out independent research or to develop an independent research reputation and do not have teaching responsibilities. Ordinarily, this position will carry out research or creative programs as well as administration of day-to-day lab operations with supervision by a member of the Professorial Series.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications, and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
May serve as PI for certain grants.

Assists in lab experiments, analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.
May lead or train Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows.
Appointees on an academic trajectory will be encouraged to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research.
Will assist in day-to-day laboratory activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate degree.
Completion of postdoctoral appointment in area of specialization, as applicable.

Job Summary
Our environmental field technicians / consultants (Level 1) provide clients with advice regarding potential contaminant presence in a variety of settings including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. An ideal candidate should be an individual who is self-motivated, this hands-on position requires strong analytical and communication skills to identify a potential issue and convey the said issue to a client with remedial solutions when necessary. Through on-the-job training and certification courses, field technicians gain knowledge regarding state and federal regulations and in turn conduct surveys and produce reports as a knowledgeable party.
Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct on-site inspections, which includes documentation of site conditions, sampling, and in-person consultation
Produce professional survey reports based on inspection notes and sample data with remedial recommendations as necessary
Coordinate with multiple parties regarding inspections while keeping all parties best interests in mind
Adhere to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations and communicate that information to clients in a professional manner
Qualifications and Skills
No experience required - will train.
High school diploma is required.
Prefer individuals with a bachelor's of science degree in construction management, biology, chemistry, environmental science, and/or a related science.
Valid Driver's License
