Position Summary:

This position will be a full-time employee of, and supervised by American Bird Conservancy (ABC), with daily instruction and leadership provided by ABC and US Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The position is funded through the Northern Great Plains Joint Venture (ngpjv.org), a coordinating group that ABC and many other agencies and conservation organizations work with.
Hired individual will work primarily in northern South Dakota. This position will be located in Buffalo, South Dakota based from the USDA Service Center office to write contracts and conservation plans.
Buffalo is near the borders of Montana and North Dakota. Outdoor opportunities abound, with over a half dozen recreation areas relatively nearby, including diverse expanses of public land and water for hunting, fishing, and wildlife watching (Black Hills, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, National grasslands, etc.).
As an ABC employee, occasional work travel for trainings to other states may be necessary. This position is a part of a team of 6 staff, with 2 other positions in South Dakota, 2 in Montana, and 1 in North Dakota
Primary Duties:
Will work in a joint capacity with ABC and partners, including NRCS and other State, Federal, Native nations, and NGO partners to promote, accelerate enrollment, coordinate and implement the conservation provisions of the Federal Farm Bill and other wildlife related conservation programs.
Assist or coordinate activities and projects with NRCS, or other agency or non-profit partners. This necessitates Federal employee security clearance and substantial trainings to work on NRCS programs;
Activities will include promotion of conservation programs (workshops and one-on-one meetings), contract coordination, conservation plan development and modification, site assessment, and reporting. Most (80-95%) of this work normally takes place through NRCS programs.
Provide conservation technical guidance, including wildlife habitat enhancement techniques, and conservation program delivery, to private landowners and public organizations within partner identified priority areas, as appropriate and will collaborate with partner project managers to increase involvement in programs.
Work with local partners to increase habitat management efforts and participate in regional and statewide habitat meetings;
Provide leadership and support for outreach activities including direct collaboration with project managers, and through landowner field events, inter-agency partnership training meetings, and other communication efforts.

Requirements
A minimum requirement for this position is a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management or closely related natural resources field and three years of relevant experience.
Wildlife Society Certification and graduate work will also be considered.
Ability to be a part of multiple teams and, where appropriate, help to work with a diverse set of partner organizations and individual landowners to achieve conservation objectives at multiple scales (individual land parcel to sub-watershed levels).
Experiences with Native Nations, cultures, governments, and policies.
Practical experience with agricultural systems, farming and ranching.
Knowledge of wildlife ecology, bird identification by sight and sound, prescribed fire, and grassland, wetland, and early succession habitat management.
Ability to convey the use of various habitat management tools in the development of management plans.
Knowledge of conservation and wildlife habitat programs provided by federal (i.e. Farm Bill, US Fish and Wildlife Service), state, & local entities. In addition, knowledge of how these programs are implemented in an agricultural landscape is desired.

Performs all Electrodiagnostic Services protocols, procedures, and assessments that have been ordered by a physician.
Performs all facets of electroencephalographic and evoked potential testing in the diagnostic laboratory/patient bedside, in accordance with department policy and procedures. All facets include SSEP and EMG monitoring, Transcranial Magnetic Motor Evoked Potentials, Pedicle Screw Stimulation, and EEG, both routine and carotid monitoring.
Performs all neurodiagnostic procedures for diagnostic purposes and maintains records of reports as observed by Director of Diagnostic Services.
Performs daily calibration and periodic maintenance of all diagnostic testing equipment, records results on maintenance records per departmental policy and reference manuals. Also is proficient in programming monitoring equipment, ability to troubleshoot and work with machine vendors to run the equipment to its full capacity.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies necessary to the function of the diagnostic laboratory.
Properly completes charges for billing. Makes accurate records in department logbook and processes all other department and hospital paperwork. Proficient in generating reports for USMON and PRN physicians. Ensures information is uploaded into systems correctly.
Reviews patient records, physician orders, protocols, and data to demonstrate ability for interpretation of subjective and objective information for patient assessment and order validation. Seeks guidance from Director/Supervisor and Medical Director for unresolved issues.
Assists other members of the staff maintain skills in performing diagnostic testing.
Participates in the orientation, mentorship and education of personnel and students. Provides formal and informal teaching/learning opportunities to assist personnel to achieve and maintain competence necessary for safe and effective practice.

Our Supervisory Consulting Utility Forester (SCUF) serve as leadership to Consulting Utility Foresters (CUFs) and other operations department employees. They will perform inspections to identify UVM work to be executed, conduct audits of work identified by CUFs as a quality control measure, as well as post-work audits of executed UVM work by tree pruning contractors as needed, and assist utility employees in monitoring contractor performance. In their role they also serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews and customers and will assist with resolving concerns that arise.
SCUFs assist the Operations Manager in making certain that ACRT personnel are working safely in the field and are equipped with all necessary PPE. They will conduct regional benchmarks to ensure team members are consistent in their planning methodology, according to contract specifications. SCUFs will also conduct pre-patrol meetings with field teams to assure each understands the scope of the feeder being patrolled. SCUFs will help utility track and make sure to close out all work releases and project documentation. SCUFs will accomplish other duties as assigned.

Performs identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines and submits inspection results to clients with recommendations. Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of assigned tree clearance crews. Discusses and negotiates line-clearance crew access issues, and serves as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers.

Patrols distribution and/or transmission circuits and prescribes work to be performed by client tree trimming contractor, determines when the next trim is required, notifies property owners of tree trimming and tree and brush removal work to be performed relating to client specifications, manages the issuance of work and tracks work progress, maps circuits using client continuity lists, performs outage investigations and, when necessary, obtains permits from public agencies and documents work.
Enters tree trimming and tree and brush removal prescription into hand-held computer or other similar systems, and uses computers and associated software to perform duties.
Audits tree trimming and tree removal work completed by the tree trimming contractor in the field to ensure compliance with work request forms and approved tree trimming standards. The CUF shall complete post audit forms indicating adequacy of the tree trimming and tree removal work, and forward the completed forms to the vegetation management program manager or coordinator.
Maintain working relationships with local client personnel as well as all relevant federal, state and local governmental agencies with which it may become necessary to interact with during the course of performing their prescribed vegetation management duties.

Communicate technical and program requirements and conduct contract coordination, site assessments, eligibility determinations, and training sessions for landowners and resource professionals.
Accelerate conservation program enrollment and public awareness by conducting outreach such as workshops, field days, demonstration events, and habitat tours.
Meet with local PF & QF chapters and other local partners to coordinate and support habitat management efforts and participate in local and statewide habitat meetings and trainings.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agency staff.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele.
Knowledge of wildlife ecology, grassland, wetland and early succession habitat establishment and management, including the ability to utilize various habitat management tools in the development of management plans.
Specific knowledge of grassland/farmland associated wildlife species' habitat requirements is desirable along with plant identification of native, non-native, and invasive grasses, forbs, trees, and shrubs.
Knowledge of conservation and wildlife programs provided through the Farm Bill, as well as other federal, state, & local entities. In addition, knowledge of how these programs are implemented in an agricultural landscape is desired.
Knowledge of agricultural landscapes, common farming and land use practices, and basic agricultural economics is desirable.

Valid driver's license required; use of personal vehicle required with a mileage reimbursement and vehicle stipend provided. Current rate is $.67 per mile with periodic adjustments relative to the IRS rate. Expect to drive 6,000 to 10,000 miles annually.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a balance of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills required to implement voluntary conservation programs on private lands.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a key member of the LDAR team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Conduct routine leak inspections of industrial piping and tank components using a backpack-mounted organic vapor meter
Maintain a basic understanding of air quality rules and regulations
Maintain good public relations with clients
Report all environmental and safety issues to client and Regional Manager

Remain current on all Montrose and client safety training and policies

Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

If more than 10 percent of total undergraduate credit hours are non-graded, i.e. pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit, etc. you cannot qualify based on GPA.

1. Professional knowledge of environmental physical science principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to carry out tasks and provide support using established procedures and methods in assigned.
2. Knowledge to perform a variety of technical tasks in support of projects assigned to higher level scientists or engineers using established technology to investigate unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned.

4. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.

Individual Placement - Bio Science Technician with FWS

The incumbent serves as a biological science technician (Bio tech) for the Saratoga National Fish Hatchery. Incumbent main responsibility is to assists with the Wyoming toad-rearing program. Incumbent will also assist with other fish hatchery duties. Other hatchery duties include but are not limited to feeding, cleaning raceways, spawning, and other duties as required. The Wyoming toad program consists of a breeding population of about 110 toads and a toadlet population of approximately 900. This position will be responsible for the daily care of these toads from hatching eggs to the release of adults the following year. The toad building consists of 76, 45-gallon tanks holding the toad population. The new Bio tech. will be responsible for feeding the toads, cleaning of tanks, and raising insects to feed the toads. Incumbent assists with the Wyoming toad-rearing program and assists in record keeping for all aspects of toad culture and husbandry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Function:
The typical job involves the demolition of a current tub or shower base and tile walls, followed by installation of new tub and shower base, acrylic wall panels, and installing new trim.
Other jobs require extended services such as installation of tile or vinyl flooring, installing vanity cabinets, faucets, mirrors, lighting, wainscoting, and re-setting commodes.
Traits:
The successful candidate will possess the following traits and capabilities
· An insatiable desire and ability to produce a high quality end-product for our clients, and achieve top shelf quality ratings by those same customers for speed, detail orientation, quality, and service
· Several years of successful bathroom remodeling experience, including experience preferably with acrylic products. Typically trim carpenters, cabinet makers, or other trades requiring specific cuts and detail orientation are successful in this position
· Demonstrable experience with light plumbing tasks, replacing shut-off valves, and re-setting commodes
· Ability to arrive early at the clients and stay until the job has been done right (to the customer's satisfaction).
· Ability to focus on quality, including paying attention to the small details of remodeling jobs, and making clients completely satisfied
· Clean cut, neat, dress appropriately, and have good personal habits.
· A desire to learn new installation techniques, designed to increase the value of our remodels to clients, and increase our efficiency
· Ability to occasionally work late or weekends to complete jobs in a timely fashion
· Some experience desired with cabinets or vanity work, solid surface tops, sheetrock tape, and texture, painting, and other tangible remodeling skills.
Compensation:
Our installers are well compensated, based on the completion of remodeling work during that time, and the quality ratings by customers.

Our showroom and warehouse are located in Sioux Falls. Job assignments will be anywhere within approximately 70 miles of Sioux Falls.
