This is a support position focused on hazardous and non-hazardous waste related projects Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Ensure waste types are properly segregated, regulatory shipment windows are met, proper container labeling is adhered to, good housekeeping is maintained and accurate tracking logs are kept. Identify best practices that assist customers in reducing waste volumes, increasing operational efficiencies, identifying optimal equipment usage and generating cost savings. Segregate, label, mark and package waste materials in a safe and compliant manner. Collect, pour, transfer, consolidate, repackage and package solid, liquid and sludge material. Perform labor intensive activities such as container or drum collection, drum bulking, sorting trash for recyclables and loading of trucks. Transfer waste into containers of different size. Provide labor support at 90-Day Hazardous Waste Pad, when applicable. May provide support or direction to less experienced Technicians. Wears required personal protective equipment. Participates and cooperates in safety process, including following written procedures, attending required training and scheduled meetings. Immediately reports any unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries or property damage to supervisor. Follows Environmental and Quality Management System (ISO 14001/9001) policy, procedures and operational controls related to job responsibilities. Maintains compliance with applicable environmental, safety and transportation regulations (EPA, OSHA and DOT). Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory duties. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Education and Experience Education: Associate's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experience. Experience: None required (in addition to education requirement). Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience preferred. 24-hour HAZWOPER certification (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain such within 30 days of employment. Manifesting hazardous and non-hazardous waste experience preferred. Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements. Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required Must be able to work independently with little direction, and as a member of a team. Overview TRC is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist/Toxicologist to join our EH&S, Engineering, Construction, and Remediation (ECR) team operating out of Greenville, SC. This position will be part of a skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other technical leads performing ecological and human health risk assessments, environmental compliance, and other environmental project related activities, including development and implementation of field survey plans and assessments. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable individual with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high performing team. Responsibilities * Support human health and ecological risk assessment teams with data evaluation, statistical analysis and food web modeling * Research toxicological data and information to support human health and ecological risk assessments. * Perform dietary exposure modeling in support of risk assessments. * Conduct scientific literature reviews and summarize key data and components for use in scientific data evaluation. * Conduct biological field surveys including wetland/waterbody delineations (in accordance with USACE requirements), habitat assessments, wildlife and plant species-specific surveys, and breeding bird and raptor surveys. * Prepare wetland reports and obtain jurisdictional determinations. * Provide support in preparation of permit applications for USACE Section 10/404 and state permit applications. * Prepare protected species reports. * Prepare additional technical reports and develop agency correspondence. * Provide support for mitigation activities including mitigation banking options for client projects or permittee-responsible options requiring the development of Wetlands Mitigation Plans, mitigation site design, and conducting monitoring/reporting to Agencies. * Communicate and coordinate with agencies for coordination and consultation. * Provide technical support in responding to requests for proposals. * Abide by Company policies and procedures. * Other duties and special projects as assigned. * Qualifications * Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental toxicology, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field. * A minimum of 5-8 years combined of technical and field experience performing a combination of field and report preparation activities including performing biological assessments, risk assessments, completing wetland delineations, habitat assessments, preparing delineation reports and Section 401/404 permit applications * Strong plant identification skills * Strong environmental writing and communication skills * Strong ability to organize and evaluate scientific data in multiple software platforms * Strong ability to prioritize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. * Ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory agencies in the Southeast region. * Excellent verbal communication and technical communication skills are mandatory, along with the ability to maintain a positive attitude working under aggressive schedules and challenging work conditions such as heavily vegetated, rough terrain and hot and humid weather conditions. * The candidate must have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. The ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materials is also required.
