Flex houseparents provide a consistent family-like structure for students and handle responsibilities such as driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, etc. When initially hired, flex houseparents cover different student homes before being assigned to one specific home. The Alice Center is divided into six separate "neighborhoods" that each feature their own home-like kitchens and dining rooms, large living rooms, and ample social spaces. Each resident room is either private or semi-private and contains a private bathroom and shower. Candidates for this per diem position must agree to maintain the requirements of per diem staff at The Alice Center: Work a minimum of (2)-8-hour shifts per pay period and (2)-8-hour weekend shifts per month (included in the 16-hours per pay period). With a maximum of 400 hours in a six-month period. Hours worked to cover for staff out of work for sickness or disability are not included in this total, nor are hours worked to cover shifts for other staff that are already schedule.
