Our three units encompass the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and Cardiovascular Observation Unit. Our invasive Cardiac Services include cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, percutaneous catheter interventions, cardiac MEMs, interventional neurology, interventional radiology, cardiac ablations, pacemakers/defibrillators, left atrial appendage occlusion devices, loop recorder implants, transesophageal echocardiograms, and electrical cardioversions. Description:
Provides healthcare services using cardiovascular, endovascular, and neurovascular imaging and interventional procedures.
Arterial/venous sheath removals and/or closure devices
Assisting physicians during electrophysiology procedures. Competent in:
Atrial and Ventricular Ablation procedures; LAAO Procedures and Lead Extractions.
Assisting physicians during the implantation of permanent pacemakers / ICDs3.
Performing digital imaging techniques.
Aseptic technique.
Management of complications such as but not limited to, air emboli, stroke, anaphylaxis reactions, perforations of vessels and cardiac tamponade.
Complies with regulatory guidelines.
Demonstrates professional judgment in performance of services and maintains demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
Qualifications:
Associate degree.
Certificate for Radiologic Technologist.
Current American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registry.
Current Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
ACLS certification within one year of hire.
Obtain NIHSS certification upon completion of Neurovascular orientation.

It is expected staff to attend 75% of the department staff meetings throughout the year as well as initial and date staff meeting minutes. Must attend 100% of mandatory meetings unless approved by Manager/Supervisor in advance.
Attends 100% mandatory hospital and department in-services. If not, in attendance is responsible for obtaining information covered.
Regularly reviews posted memos, notes, and in-services and signs forms promptly.
Maintains confidentiality and complies with HIPAA, always protecting patient privacy.
Establish a good rapport with physicians, physician offices, other hospital departments and has a good working relationship with laboratory co-workers.
Informs director of actual or anticipated problems to include staffing, performance, or patient related concerns.

Kentucky Blood Center is seeking a qualified medical technologist to perform and interpret serological procedures on specimens submitted for compatibility testing. This position also acts as an expert problem solver, and will resolve issues related to antibodies, blood typing, and cross-matching. The role regularly interacts with hospital laboratories, helping them find answers, and communicating findings.
$2,500 Sign-On Bonus (after 90-days).
Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00pm-6:30am with on-call rotation.
Training: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm (training will take 2-6 months depending on experience).
Essential Job Duties
Proficiently and accurately fulfills laboratory functions onsite with minimal supervision.
Provides rotational on-call coverage for patient serological investigations and other department requests outside of business hours (evenings, weekends, holidays); complies with related policies.
Resolves typing, antibody, and crossmatch issues and discrepancies on donor units; assists in ensuring transfusion recipient safety on samples referred by health care establishments.
Investigates platelet transfusion refractoriness issues.
Utilizes appropriate testing and matching criteria.
Selects compatible donors for patients requiring HLA-matched platelet products.
Performs special testing as required to monitor donor and recipient safety.
Maintains department inventory (includes reagents, special antisera items, and other laboratory supplies).
Responsible for the operation, maintenance and quality control of equipment used for testing and handling of all specimens, including daily workstation use and temperature monitoring for freezers and refrigerators.
Serves as consultant to laboratory and medical personnel seeking advice concerning safe transfusion of patients.
Helps to ensure quality of work by reviewing test results, reports, audits and quality control results as designated.
Assists in the development, analysis, and revision of SOPs; reads and incorporates into work practices.
Participates in continuing education activities such as attendance at conferences and meetings, monitoring industry publications, and remaining current on trends and best practices.
Participates in and supports research projects requested by the Medical Director.
Composes a concise Reference Laboratory Report for all patient specimens worked up and for donor testing, as required.
Maintains, files, and stores all department records, and assists with audits and quality assurance.

Description: The Cath Lab Tech assists physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining sterile fields, monitoring patient vitals, operating imaging equipment, and documenting procedures. The tech plays a key role in emergency cardiac care and recovery, often working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

The CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION TECHNICIAN performs a variety of technical and supportive care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex and invasive cardiac catheterization procedures. Works under the direct supervision of the physician.

EDUCATION
Completion of a cardiac catheterization technician program of study combining academic work and clinical training or equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
LICENSURE
State specific.
EXPERIENCE
At least one year of experience as a cardiac catheterization technician in a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
CREDENTIALS
Current CPR; and other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with ATC policies/procedures.
Complies with client facility policies/procedures.
Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during shift.
Maintains competency by participating in continuing education programs and meets state specific requirements, if applicable.
Complies with accepted ethical conduct and professional standards of conduct.
Ensures an adequate stock of supplies at the work site and proper functioning of equipment.
Sets up room prior to each procedure.
Prepares sterile tray and appropriate medications.
Balances and calibrates equipment including, but not limited to, x-ray cameras, pressure recorders, pressure sensitive transducers, desitometer, power injector and oxygen consumption apparatus, as assigned.
Prepares patient for catheterization procedure by attaching 12-lead electrocardiogram electrodes; performs prep and drape of patient.
Collects and analyzes samples of blood and timed expired air; calculates certain hemodynamic data.
Assists the physician in placement of cardiac catheter.
Monitors patient reaction to procedures.
Monitors EKG and pressure readings.
May administer non-narcotic medications (if allowed by facility protocol and according to applicable state regulations).
Maintains record of protocol and operates defibrillator.
Provides assistance as needed during patient emergencies.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by certification from an accredited medical assistant program; current CPR certification required; two years broad experience with emphasis in family practice. Prefer additional experience as a laboratory assistant/phlebotomist.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patients, maneuver objects, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds; visual and auditory acuity; distinguish colors; motor coordination and manual dexterity; articulate speech; ability to read and understand orders, exposure to hazardous/bio-hazardous materials.
