Responsibilities


Functions under the direction of the Learning & Development Manager. The Epic Principal Trainer is an individual
that possess competencies in two areas: science of educational theory with mastery in educational design,
implementation and evaluation as well as a sound knowledge of how technology is situated in the workflow of
clinicians and others within healthcare; in particular, the electronic health record. As such, the Epic Principal Trainer
will be responsible for developing and maintaining course curricula and supporting training materials for their
application as well as designing robust evaluation methods for training programs.

The Epic Principal Trainer acts as a content expert for creating and providing training for the Epic application. The
Epic Principal Trainer will also be responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the training environment as well as
managing updates to policy and procedure documentation related to training. The Epic Prinicipal Trainer will conduct
training for new staff, provide refresher training as needed and coordinate and implement training for software
upgrades and updates. The Epic Principal Trainer works closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and team
members on all aspects of the Epic project to assure project deadlines are met and to ensure all training reflects
operational workflows, policies and procedures.


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelors degree strongly
preferred.

Required Minimum Experience: Experience as an instructor, educator or facilitator of learning programs is strongly
preferred. If not, must complete WellStar Educator Immersion program within 3 months of employment and
successfully complete all aspects of the training. Exposure to and knowledge of healthcare, clinical practice settings
and clinical workflow in a hospital setting, is strongly preferred.

Required Minimum Licensure/Certifications: Certified in Epic application or must complete Epic certification within six
months of hire. Must maintain Epic certification in assigned application module to assure Epic active status.

Required Minimum Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be organized and have the ability to analyze and trouble
shoot problems. This individual must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a team. Must be
able to demonstrate an understanding of project management tools, methodologies and techniques. Ability to multitask is essential, as is the ability to function in stressful and emergent situations. Strong detail orientation and time
management skills are required. Knowledge of clinical practice settings and clinical workflow in a hospital setting are

The Senior Epic Trainer will contribute substantially to the development, implementation, and success of the Ambulatory application/systems training program. + Works with project managers, applications managers, applications specialists, and subject matter experts to develop, validate, and update training materials.

+ Reviews, edits, and approves any curricula or other materials developed by trainers or associate trainers.

+ Develops application-specific and cross-application training environment requirements.

+ Builds, configures, and tests the training environment to mirror the production environment system, including the inclusion of upgrades, fixes, and new releases.

Job Summary

The Credentialed Trainer is responsible for delivering end-user training for physicians, other clinicians, and non-clinical staff to develop competence in the use of clinical and business information systems and other computer software applications for various clinical areas and departments within the hospital and clinics. The Credentialed Trainer will also assist in creation and validation of training tools which support the education of system users, and in measuring user competency as well as effectiveness of the training program.
